  • Peaceful, friendly touring park 10 minutes' drive from Penrith
  • Ullswater 10 minutes' drive; Rheged Visitor Centre two miles
  • Parallel to a spacious farmhouse garden overlooking mature trees
Staying near Penrith puts you within easy access of the Lake District National Park, so make yourself at home at the pitches at Tymparon Hall, set in the grounds of an 18th-century manor house just a 10-minute drive from both Penrith and Ullswater. This peaceful, friendly park is sheltered to the east by the old Penrith to Keswick railway embankment, which runs parallel to the site's farmhouse garden (overlooking a summer garden with colourful flowers and landscaped with mature trees). It's in prime national park exploring territory, four miles from Junction 40 of the M6 near Penrith and within easy reach of the Eden Valley. The Aira Force waterfall is a 15-minute drive away, and it's 20 minutes to Blencathra or 25 to Helvellyn. Showers, toilets and chemical disposal are all available on site. The local pub, an old-school inn, is about a 10-minute walk or a two-minute drive away; the nearest supermarket is within four miles.

What customers say

This is a quiet, well-maintained adult-only site with friendly owners, described as peaceful and a great stopover location near the M6 and local amenities. Pitches are flat and spacious with water and electric hook-up. Facilities are basic but clean, with some guests noting the showers and toilets are dated and could benefit from an update. A robot lawnmower is a unique feature. Some reviewers noted a lack of dishwashing facilities and limited dog walking areas.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Het is een rustige camping vlakbij Penrith. Mooie plek om een of twee nachtjes te staan op doorreis. Sanitair is heel eenvoudig.

Disliked We konden geen afwasplek vinden. Toch wel iets wat hoort bij een camping.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked WOW..... What a great site for adults. Margaret greeted us when we arrived. We pitched our caravan in a lovely spot. Water, electric and waste drain all on our hard standing pitch. Bit of a slope but we coped. Toilets and showers were lovely and clean. The regulars were very friendly and helped us to put up our awning. Very quiet and peaceful. Lovely views. Got to mention the robotic grass mower,

Liked Lovely little site not too far away from local supermakets / shops.

Quiet and slightly off the beaten track, hard stading with electric, water and grey waste disposal to hand is very useful.

Lovely owner

Local attractions

Tymparon Hall is 10 minutes from Pooley Bridge and its Bronze Age standing stones, and Lake Ullswater for steamboat trips, sailing, diving and scaling England's third highest mountain Helvellyn to the lake's south. At its west, walk through Lake District woodland to reach Aria Force waterfall. The Rheged Visitor Centre is a couple of miles from Tymparon: head here for a six-storey high cinema screen, shops, cafés using Cumbrian produce, indoor and outdoor play areas, and family-friendly activities and events throughout the year. This is Eden Valley land too, along with lots of opps for walks, bike rides and pony riding in the valley, Greystoke Forest, around the Lakeland Fells and back at Ullswater. A little further afield but still easily accessible from the site, Hadrian's Wall and Carlisle are both excellent options for days out.
