Climbing Blencathra is a wonderful Lake District experience, with routes suitable for various abilities (from a relatively straightforward path to a more challenging route that involves scrambling along the ominously named Sharp Edge…). Then again, putting your feet up, pouring a glass of something and looking up at the 828-metre mountain from below is also a wonderful experience – and something that should certainly be on the cards when you stay at Ewe Love Camping Pods. These luxurious pods in the Cumbria countryside are about halfway between Penrith and Keswick, with fabulous views up to Blencathra and easy access to all the trails of the North Lakes (and the Coast to Coast cycle trail, if you're up for more of a challenge). As well as being highly scenic, this setting is peaceful indeed, as the glamping site is part of a family farm where your neighbours will be the resident Fell sheep and suckler cows and the views take in flower-filled meadows and a section of wildlife-filled Mosedale Beck. The lovely pods were made locally in Cumbria, and have been set up to make the most of those stunning views – with a picnic table and barbecue provided for your outdoor meals and drinks. Inside, there’s a double bed, an ensuite bathroom and a kitchen area with fridge, microwave, coffee maker and kettle. Everything is kept cosy by the underfloor heating, and the lockable French doors should make sure you're safe and secure.

Liked Simple pod, things are available we did not use team (BBQ and firepit).
Location and view are absolutly amazing. How the pods are placed, you got enough privacy.

Liked Beautiful pods in a calmly location ..
Great environment. Love it. But not happy with the size of the pod. Bath room toilet layout it too small. Bed is good. Sofa and kitchen area is good. Outside space also fantastic .. ❤️..

Liked What an amazing place to get away from the daily hustle and bustle of a hectic life ! My partner and I enjoyed 4 days in the pods here and they were fantastic . Spotlessly clean pods ( the main reason why I booked here ) , well equipped, comfy bed & pillows ( feather), warm Pod with underfloor heating, spectacular scenery , bad weather but heyho - we only wanted to rest in a different environment so it didn’t bother us. Loved seeing the animals from sheep, to Daisy the cow ( hope she had the calf by now ), “Brownie the cow and her baby, the dogs, the rabbits roaming around .. and to top it up, we woke up to an amazing double rainbow - it gave us goosebumps it was so close . Wow ! We cannot wait to go back :) thanks again for having us x

Disliked Not a dislike - just an opinion - would have liked to see an “Honesty Box” goodies and maybe fresh eggs … just a thought ;)

Liked Stunning location with all you need for a little getaway or a comfy base to come back to after a day of hiking. Shower was nice and hot and the underfloor heating helped us during a cold snap.

Liked A really wonderful place to stay with stunning views. Quiet with plenty of space between each of the 3 pods on site. All the facilities I could have wanted and more besides - kitchenette with kettle, pod coffee machine, microwave and small fridge. Crockery and cutlery available. Washing up liquid, cloth and tea towel provided. Shower/toilet room with effective extractor fan. Comfortable bed with duvet, pillows and bedding provided. Underfloor heating with adjustable thermostat. Outdoor seating with access to BBQ and fire pit.

Liked We loved the location, well equipped kitchenette, the lovely way the pod is decorated and furnished. It was tidy and clean. Underfloor heating kept it warm. Very peaceful.

Disliked We feel it is only big enough for 2 people. With 3 of us it was a squash. If it had a 2 seater sofa instead there would be room for a clothes airer (there is nowhere to hang wet walking clothes). We couldn’t have the door or window open because a cat kept trying to get in. Towels are not provided and there is nowhere to hang towels. Remember to take the toilet paper out of the wet room when you’re showering!

Coming to the Lake District with walking in mind? You’ll have plenty of options nearby, with something for all abilities and tastes. The big draw is of course Blencathra (10 minutes’ drive), which has a variety of paths up to its 868-metre peak – some involving scrambling and others just being a challenging hike. For something a little easier, follow the flat, traffic-free Threlkeld Railway Path (10 minutes to the trailhead) or try the trails at Aira Force Waterfall and Castlerigg Stone Circle (both 15 minutes). Other activities nearby include horse riding, quad biking, archery and other outdoor antics at Rookin House Equestrian & Activity Centre (10 minutes), fishing and watersports at Ullswater (20 minutes) and refreshing dips at Glencoyne Bay (20 minutes). Keswick (15 minutes) is worth a trip as well – it’s got Derwentwater boat trips for fine days, plus several attractions for damp weather, including The Puzzling Place, Makers Mill, Derwent Pencil Museum and tours of Keswick Brewing Co. You may also like to see what’s on at the Theatre by the Lake.
