What customers say
This well-maintained campsite in a beautiful Lake District location receives consistent praise for its friendly and helpful staff, clean facilities, and spacious pitches. It's a popular choice for families, offering a playground and woodland walks. Its prime location for hiking, particularly to Scafell Pike and Wast Water, is frequently highlighted. Limited WiFi and phone signal are available at reception. Minor criticisms include the rocky ground for pegs and occasional queues for facilities during peak times.

A clean and professional camp site.
Non-electric grass tent pitch (small)
Liked A clean and well placed camp site. A short walk/drive and you're a Weswater. The reception is also a farm shop and cafe, what's not to like.
Disliked I didn't book another night.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (small)
Liked Liked the location despite our sat nav taking us 30 mins longer than it should. The team were pretty polite and reasonable. Showers were available at all times, avoid 7-9pm. Farm shop was great for milk, plus bits and bobs. Make sure you do a shop before you go as there isn’t anything near for at least 30 mins. Campsite is clean and worth the money
Disliked The pub opposite is very odd! We were told that the kitchen was closed at 8pm (we hadn’t booked) but when I asked for something small like the Pâté we were refused and said you can have chips instead. This blew my mind as slicing off some pâté and doing some toast isn’t asking for the world. However, they said the kitchen had closed yet I saw endless meals leaving this kitchen for the next hour.
The barman Jordan was very lovely. He emphasised with us as we explained we’d been travelling for 5 hours, didn’t have anything to cook and wanted something small before bed.
We came back the next night for a quick drink whilst our clothes were being dried. Very hostile and offish feel from the pub. I believe they rely on passing trade and not returning customers. Shame!

From the manager: We are sorry that you disliked our site and your stay. We would like to point out that the commmet regarding "herding cats" was with reference to a farming issue and nothing to do with any of our guests. We treat all our guests with respect and show them the utmost curtosy, which is evident in the vast majority of our reviews.
We also regularly check the toilets and replace the mop bucket water, however if during your shower there was an issue, we would have happily have rectified it, had you let a member of staff know during your stay. We do have signage in place letting people know that we are always on hand to recitify any issue with the showers or toilets, whould we be notified of them (which includes outside of our reception opening hours).
We will however, take this on board, and increase the regularity with which we check and replenish our mop bucket water.
