  • Back to basics site on the edge of the Lake District
  • A 10-minute drive to Seascale beach, Ravenglass and Muncaster Castle
  • Access to a bridleway for coast walks and the NCN72 cycle route
With the seaside on one side and the western edge of the Lake District National Park on the other, Hallsenna Manor Campsite is in a pretty special location. The folk that own this lovely slice of the Cumbria countryside bought their place in 2021, and could scarcely wait to throw open the doors to guests so that others can also share the surroundings they love so much. Set up camp here and you’ll be treated to views along the bridleway towards the coast, the Wasdale Valley and the peaks of Scafell and Great Gable. Your neighbours will be sheep and cows in the next fields and free-range chickens pottering around the site. The pop-up site that’s been set up here is accessed via a short drive along a bridleway that’s also your route to some fabulous walks over to the dunes at Drigg or inland towards the Wasdale Valley. There are lots more circular routes in the surrounding area for walks and bike rides, and the NCN72 cycle route passes by the end of the bridleway. Beyond that there are plenty of places to explore in the national park (and as this is the quieter western side, you should be able to avoid the crowds too). Things have been kept quite simple – you’ll be able to pick your own pitch, and you’ll have access to a portable toilet and drinking water (but please note there are no showers). There’s a no-music rule in place. Barbecues are permitted, and you can pick up all the bits you need in Seascale, 10 minutes’ drive away.
