Local attractions

Hawkshead, often referred to as the prettiest village in Lakeland, is a charming village, home to the grammar school attended by William Wordsworth and the Beatrix Potter Gallery. Grizedale Forest is on our doorstep, offering plenty of trails for keen mountain bikers and walkers or Go Ape! for those feeling a bit more adventurous. Beatrix Potter's home at Hill Top is two miles away and there are rowing boats to hire at the trout farm just down the road. The southern fells are easily accessible, as are the villages of Coniston and Ambleside. YHA Hawkshead really is the perfect location for exploring the south Lakes.
