Liked: Location was beautiful, surrounded by lovley walks!
Disliked: There is no access to drinking water!! Also bring your own loo roll!! For £32 a night this seems unreasonable? Some warning about a festival going on at the pub in the town would have been appreciated, it went on to 12am with very loud music, plus no checking in on loud camping guests to make sure they are adhering to quiet hours… fair to say we didn’t get the camping experience we were expecting or wanting.

Liked: Loved location, literally in nowhere. Not busy and a beautiful view and we found no reception as a bonus to escape from rest of the world. you were so helpful with all instructions to find you, thank you very much
Disliked: there was no water or blue liquid to flush toilet and wasn't pleasant to use, toilet paper stand broken and quite a bit of sheep poo everywhere. As there was only four tents for a night at least it wasn't so bad as we were able to move around and find better spot without pitching our tents in poo but I don't know how it would work with full campsite. And I wish there would be no music policy for campers but it's maybe just us who thinks sound of nature is all you need

From the manager: Dear Guest, Thank you for your comments. We appreciate that you enjoyed the environment and found our instructions helpful. We have spoken to the facility provider and they promised us an update. We will also try our best improve the cleanliness on the site. Regarding the music policy, we will speak to Pitchup.com. We agree with you that the sound of nature is enjoyable. Wishing you all the very best and look forward to welcoming you back. Eskdale Valley Campsite

Liked: Amazing campsite. Breathtaking views right out of the tent door, sheep and cows in the neighbouring fields and incredibly peaceful, nice and quiet on the weekend and we had the place to ourselves for Monday and Tuesday, would be more than willing to come again! On top of that the lady that runs the place was very kind, she brought us fresh water and came for a chat round the fire on Saturday evening
Disliked: Nothing at all, was perfect!

Liked: A straight forward, easy to use campsite in a great location. Yes the campsite was basic but perfect for what I needed. I travelled in my VW Camper so all I needed was a toilet and available water and it was readily available. Customer Service was fantastic.

Liked: The views are incredible and it is very peaceful. There is good walking directly from the site, and a number of pubs within easy walking distance. The staff are very friendly and approachable. As a location it is hard to beat.
Disliked: £32 is an awful lot of money to park in a field with one portaloo and an open air cold tap.

From the manager: Dear Mark, Thank you for your comments. We are delighted that you liked the location and praised our staff. Our prices was advised by Pitchup.com, and we clearly stated that it was a "Popup, No-Frills” site. As we are inside the National Park, the only facilities allowed are toilets and bins. You could choose permanent sites with developments or compare other Popup sites before making your payments rather than complaining and leaving a negative comment. We would also be really grateful that if you mention that we agreed you arriving before the check-in time, and messaged you about your lost bank card when you left the site. Wishing you all the very best and see you again! Eskdale Valley Campsite

Liked: Nice location, though difficult to access with a Ducato (exhaust pipe touched steep bridge)
Disliked: Price is much too high for a simple field, with a single portaloo and a water tap

From the manager: Dear Bjoern, Thank you for your comments. We are glad that you liked the location, and we are sorry to learn that you were not satisfied with the facilities and your Ducato incident. However, we have clearly stated that our site is "no-frills” place. Before your arrival, we texted you and advised you to visit our website for more details. On our website, we stated that "Important Notes: Access via a winding track and Doctor Bridge (3 meters wide, steep, with tight turns). Unsuitable for caravans or very low vehicles.” We also stated that “There is mobile signal in the valley." On your arrived on 21st June. There were only 4 pitches occupied. According to the guidelines of Lake District National Park, one toilet is sufficient. We appreciate your comments and we will try our best to provide a beautiful and peaceful environment for our guests. We do hope that you will come back again. Wishing you all the best Eskdale Valley Campsite
