Cairndale Caravan Park: View from the camping field

General

  • Rural site with Pennines views, close to the Lakes and Solway Firth
  • A 10-minute drive to the North Pennines; half an hour to the Lakes
  • Peaceful pitches with walks from site; close to a foodie pub and shops

What a spot for walkers, cyclists and indeed anybody who wants to get out and about in spectacular countryside. Cairndale Caravan Park is in a fabulous location with easy access to not one – but two – Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and if that wasn’t enough, the Lake District National Park is on hand too.

This is quite a small site at the foot of the Pennines AONB, and as it’s surrounded by greenery wherever you look, you might just prefer to lie back in your tent and take in the views. Chances are, however, that the call of all those walks across moorland to spectacular waterfalls will spur you into action.

You might prefer to pack everybody into the car and head to the Lakes (30 minutes’ drive) to go boating on the water or walk a section of the Ullswater Way. Slightly further afield, the Solway Coast AONB (45 minutes) will reveal seemingly endless beaches for kids and dogs to romp around on.

If you fancy cosy nights around the barbecue, stock up on grill bits and bobs at Brampton’s convenience stores (take a look at the ruined abbey while you’re there). Otherwise there’s a destination pub in Cumwhitton (five minutes' drive) and a huge choice of restaurants and takeaways in Carlisle (20 minutes).

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

At least one of the party members must be aged 21 or over.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.
