Low Wray Campsite is situated on the quiet western shore of Windermere. Watch the sun rise over the lake and enjoy the magnificent fell views, and there are abundant opportunities for gentle walks, great off-road biking and non-powered water sports all from the campsite grounds. Leave the car behind and explore the area on foot, by bike or by boat.

The shop and reception have been re-located to the centre of the campsite, providing a more spacious shopping area with a greater range of goods on offer and a local information point. Campers should follow the signs to reception on arrival.

Our toilet and shower blocks have been completely refurbished over the winter.

Terms and conditions

Please read the park terms and conditions below and the Pitchup.com terms and conditions.

To protect the quiet nature of the sites:

Parties are restricted to no more than four adults.

Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Families are very welcome but we request that no more than two families camp together.

The National Trust reserves the right to refuse admission.

Group bookings not accepted via Pitchup.com.

For your safety:

To reduce danger from fire and to avoid over crowding, you must leave a 6 metre gap (20 feet) between each tent, even if the tent next to you is yours! You can measure this by approximately 7 good strides. You will be asked to move your tent(s) if they are too close together. Please ask the Warden for approval before pitching gazebos or additional tentage.

All pre-bookings are subject to a minimum two night stay.

We regret that we cannot accommodate caravans or motorhomes. Only tent and trailer tent pitches available through Pitchup.com. Trailer tents may need to be manhandled on to the pitch as vehicles are not permitted on the grassed areas.

Booking on - Please be aware that we can only book visitors onto a pitch who are present at the site. For example you will not be able to book in for a friend who is following on later. We believe this to be a fair system for all our customers and apologise for any inconvenience.

To ensure a pleasant and safe camping holiday for all, we expect campers to respect the property and other campers.

A quiet site policy - to avoid excessive noise at all times, being quiet between the hours of 10pm and 7am. (Those who do not comply may be asked to leave the site.)

Pitching your tent - to pitch tents at least 6m away from your nearest neighbour as explained above.

Dogs - To be kept dogs on a lead, exercised away from camping areas, and any mess cleared up immediately.

Fires and barbeques

Open fires - are not permissible but you are welcome to bring charcoal or gas barbeques provided they are raised off the grass and are suitably sited and attended so that they are not a hazard to other campers.

Mobile phone reception - Please note that mobile phone reception at all our Lake District campsites is very limited. Public telephones are located at reception.

Severe weather warnings from the Met Office - If a warning is issued by the Met Office, you may be asked to move your tent or to leave the site for reasons of safety.

We hope that you understand the need for these simple rules and that they are for the benefit of all who stay at the campsites.
