  • Peaceful setting overlooking the Cheshire Plain, close to Whitchurch
  • On National Cycle Route 47, and near Sandstone Trail walkers’ path
  • Within easy reach of pubs with gin nights and authentic curries
Looking for a peaceful spot where you don’t have to sacrifice the luxury of nearby pubs and restaurants? Head to Cheshire site Marbury Camp and Lodge, where you can look out over the Cheshire Plain by day and devour pub grub by night – the team on site can point you towards gin evenings and excellent curries… a winning combo after a day of exploring. Speaking of exploring, there are enough walks and bike routes around to ensure you get your fill of countryside. The site is right on a national cycle route so make sure you pack your bike helmet – the site owners can help with bike hire and a map of the local cycle routes too. If walking is more your thing you can link up with the Sandstone Trail for 34 miles of unbroken, and often elevated, walking. The outdoor adventures don’t stop there, as this place is a great base for golfing, shooting and fishing as well, with all found within around four miles of the site. Worn out just by reading the activities dotted around? There’s also plenty to do if you’re after a more chilled day. The nearby local market towns of Whitchurch (three miles away) and Nantwich (eight miles) have various market days and plenty of shopping, eating and drinking options. Supplies can also be sourced closer to home in the village of Wrenbury, a mile away. Site amenities include a shower block and chemical disposal, and there's also the option to hire firepits (subject to availability).

What customers say

This is a well-maintained, clean, and peaceful campsite with beautiful countryside views. Pitches are spacious and offer privacy. Facilities, including toilet and shower blocks, are consistently praised for their cleanliness. Owners are described as friendly and helpful, with clear communication. Some guests mentioned the low amperage of electric hook-ups and noted the site's rural location, which can mean narrow access roads and longer walks to amenities. Flooding can be an issue in winter.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked The pitches are extremely spacious with a great divide to create privacy. The toilet/shower block is a very short walk away and was always kept sparkling clean. We loved the added touch of the dog field, vending machines and book swap. Would you 100% stay again.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Great facilities. Nice views..

We didn’t get to experience the place at its best due to weather, but am sure as weather improves it’s a great place to stay.

Local pub the Swann is really nice… about a 40 min walk away.

Owners have put a fair amount of effort in to make this a great campsite with facilities.

Disliked Not the campsites fault… but taxi to the local pub if weather no good are difficult to get and would cost approx £20 for 1.8 miles !

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Aloha,

Thanks for the review. I think the issue with the taxi is they have to drive 8 miles to the site, 1.8 miles to the pub, then another 8 miles back again. Ask me if I am around next time!

Cheers,

D

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Everything! Pitch was a really good size and level. Toilets and showers were spotless.

Communication prior to arrival was excellent and the site itself value for money.

The site is peaceful with stunning scenery. We didn’t really explore as we were there to just relax and unwind and this is the perfect spot to do that.

We can’t wait to go back.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked This site is actually fully serviced, despite not being listex quiet right. Amenities all clean and warm.

Disliked The track down to the premises from the none flooded side is tight and narrow, the flooded side appears to be much easier and accessible when not flooded. Maybe the council needs to sort that out.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi there Alex,

Thanks for the review. In response:

1. What isn't listed correctly? Please let us know.
2. We'd love the council to stop the road flooding every winter. We've had the local councillor and MP's involved and Cheshire East still couldn't care less. Don't think it's fair to penalise us on this point when we've provided an alternate route in that avoids the flood.

Cheers,

D

Michael A.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Small site countryside location dog friendly with dog walk. Well maintained toilet shower block. Serviced pitches hardstanding.

Disliked Route in was along country lanes as main route was closed by a flood. Lanes were muddy and wet. Electric on pitch 6 amp which we knew so just used gas for heat no problem. The hard standing could have extended 1or 2 metres further back to save walking on the grass to water point and make it easier to park car on pitch.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi there Michael,

We can't help the flooding in winter but we do what we can with the local MP and council. We also provide an alternative route in the minimise disruption.

Electric on the pitch is actually 10 amps (although we advertise it at 6amps so you know that before you book). We're rural and can't cater for 20 units each pulling 5 kw each, nor is there any need to.

We don't wish the site to be a car park, so intend on creating a car park away from the touring and camping pitches this year subject to funds (if labour stop hitting us hard with ever rising costs...)

All the best.

David
