Lovely relaxed and quiet site. Helpful/informative…
Electric grass pitch
Liked Lovely relaxed and quiet site. Helpful/informative owner and our pitch was huge!
Clean facilities.
Kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle-all so handy.
Nice to see the horses, chickens and bunny on site.
Lovely local village of Malpas with Whitchurch (and supermarkets) a 10 min drive away.
Didn’t want to put it as a dislike but no toilet paper, soap or hand drying facilities wasn’t ideal-although this is clearly stated before you book and I understand the reasoning-just makes things more tricky, especially for children.
Disliked Nothing.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback.there is always.liquid soap in both toilets. There is usually a towel in the shower but during the weekend you stayed, every time I put a clean towel in, it ended up soaking wet on the floor. I think some campers used it to dry the floor! There was always a towel in the toilet behind the kitchen. I'm sorry your children found the toilet lock a problem,i will change it.
The location was excellent for us.…
Electric grass pitch
Liked The location was excellent for us. We were travelling to on Chester zoo and then to north wales so half an hour from Chester was perfect and its a pretty spot, no view from the site but the drive up is lovely. Pitches are a reasonable size, not big enough to get away from the late night dope smokers on the next pitch but plenty for a big tent and car. The kitchen area is a nice idea, I guess if you were backpacking it would be useful.
Disliked I would like to caveat this by saying that I booked at the last minute and took whatever was available. I felt I was overpaying before I had arrived which maybe clouded my judgement.
The campsite is terrible value for money. Even worse if you are travelling with kids. I paid £40 for an adult and three children on electric. I can cope with that, I've paid a great deal more than that per night over the years. As a general rule though, when you pay more you get more. Here I paid more and I got less. I can't remember the last time I stayed on a site that didn't provide toilet roll and that's including £12 a night pop up sites in fields with portaloos. Possibly the worst thing was that at no point in the booking did it mention that I would need it. Thankfully I always carry one for emergencies! Perhaps I should have read the reviews more carefully.
The showers cost £1. That wasn't communicated in the booking either so we rocked up without any cash, so no showers for us. I have no problem with showers being metered but not when I've paid so much per night. I think the idea that by restricting showers to 10 minutes and making them chargeable so that people dont spend too long in them has the opposite effect. If I've paid a quid for a shower I am staying in it for my whole ten minutes whether I finished after five or not, regardless of if theres a queue forming.
There are only two toilets and one of them is in the room with the shower.
There is only one sink to wash pots in so timing it right again so you're not waiting for other people.
There are no bins for non recycling. So you are expected to take that home with you. Ok. I recycle at home so I sorted my rubbish, washed my tins out and put my food waste in a bowl, I ended up with a few bits that cant be recycled. But the bins were awful and full of all sorts of everything. Those bins might get picked up by a recycling truck but the rubbish in them would contaminate the whole load. It felt like cost cutting, have recycling but pay for a non recycling collection too, we are paying enough per night!

From the manager: I am shocked by your review because it is so completely opposite to the reviews I normally receive. I was totally unaware that someone was smoking dope, had I been aware I would have spoken to that person. I sift through the bins on a regular basis. If any food has found its way into a recycling bin I remove it. My bin area is always clean and there are signs everywhere instructing campers where to put their rubbish. I meet and greet all my campers and explain on arrival where to their rubbish. Everything except food, dog bags and sanitary items and nappies is recycled. There are bins in the toilets for these and are emptied daily. A few years ago a did have a general rubbish bin and campers just put all rubbish in them totally ignoring the recycling bins. I had the unpleasant task of sorting it all out. It clearly states on pitch up that you have to bring toilet rolls and it says that there is one kitchen ,one shower which needs a coin and one other toilet. The kitchen is free to use and includes fridge, freezer, kettles and microwaves and a washing machine. I believe that £30 a night is good value and I would like to also point out that despite the rising costs of electricity I have not put my prices up. My pitch sizes are large and regardless of whether a booking is last minute or not, campers still receive a good pitch.
Fantastic stay! Clare is a fab host. Definitely be back!

Liked Great host- Clare couldn’t do enough for us and was so accommodating. Very down to earth lady that never stops working!
Very clean.

Disliked Lack of internet connection as couldn’t get phone signal and no WiFi available

From the manager: Thank you so much for your lovely review. The lack of phone signal is the bane of my life. I've been on to my provider on numerous occasions and they tell me this is the best I can expect.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Very peaceful campsite. Nice and small, max 10 pitches meaning it was quiet.
The facilities were nice with a large wet room, another bathroom and a fully functioning kitchen, which was lovely. The campsite owner was lovely and very helpful.
Stayed here on a solo camp and felt very safe!
Disliked No bin for general waste so you have to take this home.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. Although I'm delighted you gave me 9 put of 10 overall I was disappointed and concerned you only gave.me 7/10 for cleanliness. I just want to take this opportunity to reassure anyone reading this review that I am a stickler for cleanliness and tidiness. It's half term and there are alot of children on site. I spend all day picking up litter and cleaning up the kitchen, shower and two toilets. I must go around at least six times a day doing this. Children have no concept of tidying up and I would urge parents to please supervise their children. With regards to rubbish. There is no need for a general rubbish bin, as per the numerous instructions in the bin area and toilets, the only non recycling rubbish is dog poo bags and nappies and sanitary items and there are bins for these in the toilets and I dispose of such on a daily basis.believe me,if I left a general rubbish bin most people would not bother to recycle and I would have the unpleasant task of sorting it all out.

Nice small, quiet site…would highly recommend
Electric grass pitch
Liked Lovely little site that has everything you need for a peaceful camping trip. The lady who owns the site was lovely too and was super helpful when we needed to borrow an extension for our electric (thank you again!)
There are chickens and a rabbit on the site and ponies too which added to the country feel but it’s also close to great things to do/places to visit like Delamere forest, Crock Trail, Beeston castle…
Everything was clean and well maintained. I noticed a few people had said on reviews but the kitchen is very well equipped with fridges and a microwave and there’s also a little sitting area which was nice.
We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back.
