What customers say
This is a new pop-up site with a fantastic location near canals and a village, offering beautiful views and direct access to walks. Visitors consistently praise the friendly and helpful owner, Christian, and the popular alpacas on site. While facilities are described as basic, particularly the shower and single toilet, they are generally found to be clean. The gently sloping field and occasional train noise are noted by some, though many find the site peaceful and offer great value. The manager has smoothed the entrance and clarifies the off-grid nature of the site.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Absolutely lovely site. Just what we had hoped it would be. Our little one loved watching the alpacas. The views where something special and the countryside sky really gave us a show through our telescope.

From the manager: Hi. Thank you so much for this review. You are the first person I know to have brought a telescope: what a great idea! Hope the rest of the year treats you well and maybe we’ll see you again :)

Liked Brilliant campsite. Me, kids and doggie had such a great time. Lovely setting. Alpacas are really cool.
Toilets and shower basic but exactly what we needed water available for a quick wash anyway.

From the manager: Apologies I e only just recently realised I could reply to reviews. Thank you so much for taking the time and saying such nice things. We really appreciate it :).
Brilliant off grid camp site. Great location & scenery.
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Great location. Beautiful views. Friendly alpacas on site.
Situated perfectly for a mix of rural walks / hikes and accessible local amenities, plenty of pubs and convenience shops within walking distance (or by car if you don't like walking).
Basic but clean facilities, first off grid site I've found to have a shower. The site is off grid, which is outlined in the site description. But the grounds are nicely kept.
A trainline runs by the foot of the site, no complaints from me, I enjoyed watching the trains occasionally pass by steadily... and for the majority of the night the site was peaceful and quite for a great nights sleep.
Great bit of stargazing to be had on a clear night as well.

It's ok for a popup campsite.
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked By the canal so ok for cycling and peaceful walks.
Disliked The field is pretty much sloping so I really struggled to get a flat pitch with my tent. The road noise is quite loud at peak periods. Noisy geese last thing at night and early in the morning. Really early. The shower didnt work either. It works on a portable charger which was discharged.

From the manager: It breaks my heart to hear what a terrible time Ian had at Disley Meadow.
It would be remiss of me not to address some of Ian’s points:
The shower is indeed powered by a battery back. Ian maintains that it was not charged so he was unable to use the shower. This is not the case as I have checked it daily, plus it’s attached to a solar panel. It seems he simply was unable to follow the instructions. Additionally I’m right at the other end of the phone so if what he said had been correct I would have corrected the situation immediately.
Ian was very unhappy with the geese (that I do not own and do not reside in my site) waking him up in the morning and annoying him at night. I can only apologise for nature going about its glorious endeavours within the glorious countryside in spite of of Ian’s preference that they should be silenced. The field is gently sloping but there are plenty of flat spaces dotted about. In this evening he was the only guest so it’s tricky believe there wasn’t one available.
I’d like to apologise to Ian on Disley Meadows behalf for providing him with 4 acres to himself, in the glorious sunshine, with beautiful views, sweet alpacas, and plenty to do right on the doorstep. I hope life perks up for him since his terrible 3/10 ordeal and he doesn’t need to seek professional advice.
It’s a nice site with some potential but def not worth the money.
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked The person who owns it was very friendly. The location was great for some lovely walks and right by the canal. The views were stunning.
Disliked No running water, one portaloo for a lot of guests by the end of the stay it was smelling but was always clean. The shower was hard work to be able to use. Looked lovely and new but too much effort. The land isn’t very flat so pitching was hard work and sleeping was hard on a hill. I think it was over priced for the facilities that were provided. The train line that ran down the bottom of the field was very loud and very frequent, sounded like the train was going to come through the tent at times.

From the manager: As most people read reviews and go straight to the lowest ones to see why someone would give a lower score then this is the perfect place to underline what we have already advised potential guests of clearly in the description (which a lot of people for some reason don’t read or just ignore). First of all she is 100% correct, I’m bloody lovely so can’t fault her there. On really sunny weekends it gets very busy but no one saw 5 heatwaves (and counting) coming this year as it’s usually a summer wash out. We are only a pop up campsite so we only need one toilet 95% of the time so if it’s really sunny and a weekend then if this going to be an issue then don’t book. We haven’t advertised lots of onsite activities so again if this is a problem then don’t book. The shower has a few stages as we are off grid which is in the first line of our description. If you don’t know what that means, it means we have no utilities at all. The fact we can provide a hot shower I view as a minor miracle but if that is not for you then that’s ok, you don’t need to stay. The land is gently undulating and most of it is on a slight gradient but this only seems to bother a select few people. There is a train line that seems also to bother very few people but it’s not a secret and if you think that might bother you then . . Well you get the idea. If however this all seems like a jolly good time and you want to gaze at the wonderful views and pet the alpacas, visit Lyme park, enjoy lovely walks and eat at the lovely restaurant 2 mins walk away then we would absolutely love to have you. And whoever you are I will greet you with open arms and be available for any and all queries. But if you are expecting centre parks or lots of child friendly activities like helter skelters and water slides then I’m afraid we’ve only got what we’ve advertised. Any queries as always, give us a call and if you are staying I hope you take advantage of all we and Disley have to offer and enjoy your stay xxx
Great location, very basic sight, over priced at £20 per night.
Non-electric grass motorhome pitch
Liked The location of the site was fantastic, right on the canal path, cafe, restaurant and garage all within walking distance. Pull up and park where you like.
Disliked The field has a huge dip in the middle so little tricky to find a flat surface. The facilities are very basic with 1 porta loo and 1 shower which you have to fill a bucket with water, submerge shower hose, turn gas on, turn water pump on and shower quick before your bucket of water runs out.

From the manager: Thank you for all the positives you have given our site. Re the shower: we have no utilities at all and feel it would be nice to provide a shower rather than nothing at all: this we clearly state in our description.
Happy camping :)
