  • Dog-friendly shepherd’s hut on a farm 10 minutes’ drive from Knutsford
  • Jodrell Bank UNESCO site 15 minutes’ drive and Chester Zoo 45 minutes
  • Well-equipped kitchen and woodburner; pubs and a shop 15 minutes’ walk
Found on a Cheshire sheep farm 10 minutes’ drive from the buzzy little town of Knutsford, Greenfields Campsite is a top choice for anyone wanting to combine a cosy holiday in a wooden shepherd’s hut with views over the surrounding farmland. Prettily done up with a rural theme, the hut has a well-equipped kitchen (all the basics and more are there), bunk beds for sleeping and a bathroom with shower. Outside there’s covered decking for chilling, watching the sheep (and lambs in spring) in neighbouring fields and admiring the sunset on clear days. The village of Lower Peover (two minutes’ drive/15 minutes’ walk) has a handy shop and two pubs serving excellent food and beers. You can also source picnic treats from the handy village shop in Goostrey (10 minutes). Knutsford is the spot for nosing around trendy boutiques, and it’s got more than its fair share of pubs and cafés if you fancy a night out. Dogs are permitted – in fact, they get their own welcome pack of treats – while kids get complimentary marshmallows to roast over the campfire (logs and firelighters are available to buy on site).

What customers say

This family-run campsite offers spacious, clean pitches and a relaxed atmosphere. Guests praise the immaculate, quirky facilities and the friendly, accommodating owners who provide thoughtful touches like complimentary marshmallows and readily available firewood. The central open field is ideal for children to play, and the site's convenient location is noted. While some mention distant motorway noise, most found it not to be an issue. There is a desire for more toilet and shower facilities during peak times.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The open field, no tents in the middle, just around the edge.
It was very peacefull.
Friendly owners, loved the free marshmallows.

Disliked Im so sorry but I think you need another toilet maybe 2, this is due to there being a toilet in one of the showers so when the showers are busy am that only leaves one separate toilet, and you have to que.
But I love the way they have converted old animal trailers into toilets and showers.

Liked really friendly owners and well organised site. Facilities were clean and everything well signed. Local shop and pub 2 mins away. We were virtually on our own for 4 nights and the site filled up for the weekend when we were leaving

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Lovely friendly camp. Nice pitch sizes and washrooms.

Disliked Only small downsides is you do hear the M6 traffic. It’s not a big deal so don’t let this put you off.

Fully-serviced grass touring pitch

Liked Very friendly family run site. The doggy bag and marshmallows were a great idea. Pitches were big and having a fire was lovely.
Stayed for 1 night as part of a longer road trip so conveniently close to the motorway, which you can hear slightly but it’s easily ignored background noise.
