Exploring the Cheshire countryside on foot is an excellent idea – and you’ll be well placed to do exactly that when you stay at Fishpool Farm Caravan Park, a modern site a few minutes’ drive from Kelsall. The trails of Delamere Forest are an easy 10-minute drive from this site, and you’ll also be able to walk sections of the nearby Sandstone Trail, climb Old Pale Hill… or just walk to the local gastropub, five minutes’ walk away. And walking isn’t the only option for a bit of outdoor activity – cycling, horse riding, golf, an aqua park and a Go Ape adventure course are all within 10 minutes’ drive too. Fancy something else to fill your days? How about checking out some local farm shops, taking a wander around Tarporley (five minutes’ drive away) or setting off to Chester (25 minutes) for its characterful city centre, its racecourse and its ever-popular zoo? Back on site, you’ll be staying on a hardstanding pitch that’s also got a grass area to make it easy to put up an awning or to provide a comfy picnic spot. Shared facilities include a bathroom block with a washing machine and Elsan point, and you’ll also have access to wifi. The site entrance is guarded by a barrier for security, and the park has a wooded area that’s great for dog walks, short strolls and places for kids to play.

  • At least one of the party members must be aged 21 or over.
  • The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. XL Bully, Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).
  • Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.
  • This is a quiet site: no music is allowed.
  • Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.
  • No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.
  • Group bookings of 4 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).
  • Group bookings of 2 or more units (e.g. tent, touring caravan, motorhome or accommodation hire) travelling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.
  • The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.
  • Single-sex bookings of 4 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.
  • Reception is unmanned after 5 p.m.. Please inform the site while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time, so that the team can provide information about your unit/pitch.
  • No charcoal barbecues allowed.
  • No electric barbecues allowed.
  • Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Liked New ownership so work in progress on the site upgrading. Long even pitches but our fully serviced pitch did not have facility for a water tap as not put in yet. Borrowed a piece of flexi pipe in order to top up our water tank in the motorhome from one of our neighbours. Friendly professional welcome from site management staff. Great gastro pub near site.

Disliked Totally understand but have gone for capacity of tourer pitches. No green space/ play area for children to play on site. Older children had no where to play games and were kicking footballs close to other pitches. Facilities where a little cramped.

Newly opened with v few minor issues awesome site and will come again

Liked Location was great and a lovely pub right on the corner.

Disliked Pitch size, felt close to the people sitting outside at the pitch next door. Very tight turn to get on the site and use the access pad when towing. No essentials sold on site, could do with a little shop.

Liked Toilets and site kept clean and tidy.
No noise issues.
Accommodated late check in.

Disliked Confusing where to park car as both parking spaces were being used at each side of pitch.
Some of the toilet cubicles are on the small side.
WiFi signal was not the best.

Not dislikes but would have been good to have an onsite shop and park. However, clear in description that the site doesn’t have these.

Liked Lovely little site. Really good pitch sizes with tarmaced driveways for each. Spotless shower block.

Disliked Not a dislike, but a suggestion….. extend the caravan pitch to the roadway so not to churn up the grass.

Liked Spacious pitches, EV charger on site, good amenities, friendly staff, can tell that they’re trying really hard to renew and upgrade the site.

Disliked No park for children (we knew this when we booked, it’s something we’ve realised we are looking for now), people not following the campsite rules but we didn’t want to cause a fuss - loudness past cut off time, fires, loud music, adult group bookings.

Liked A little gem of a campsite. Owners very friendly and accommodating.It would be nice in the future to build a play centre for kids. Excellent base for visiting local area such as Delamere forest, The Hollies and the wonderful Fishpool Inn which I highly recommend. We definitely will return.

Disliked Showers could be hotter and the doors to showers wouldn’t lock which was a pain.

Local attractions

Delamere Forest (10 minutes’ drive) must surely be on your schedule at some point during your stay – there are 2,400 acres of fabulous ancient woodland here to explore, with bike trails and walking trails galore, including a Wallace and Gromit trail and a Gruffalo trail. The forest also has a Go Ape adventure course and Segway rides, and runs a programme of special events throughout the year. For other outdoor activities, you could try the inflatable obstacle course at Wild Shore Delamere or play a round at Delamere Golf Club (both five minutes). The 34-mile Sandstone Trail also passes close by for more walks, taking in views of Peckforton Castle and Burwardsley, or you may prefer the more high-octane thrills of Oulton Park Circuit (five minutes). Over in Chester (25 minutes), you may like to take a tour of the city walls, visit the cathedral and Roman Amphitheatre or go shopping among the black-and-white buildings of The Rows. The city is also home to the Blue Planet Aquarium and Chester Zoo, and has retail therapy on hand at Designer Outlet Cheshire Oaks.
