The beautiful sunset over the site

  • Biker-friendly site on a hill overlooking the Cheshire countryside
  • A 10-minute drive from Congleton; five miles from the Peak District
  • Sociable firepit area on site; meet free-roaming peacocks and alpacas
High time for a ride to the Cheshire countryside? Then make your way to Avona Escapes, a scenic adults-only site near Congleton that’s been set up primarily with bikers in mind. Owners Shez and Graham have been riding their motorbikes for over 20 years, so they've learned a few things about how to create a biker-friendly place to stay. Security is a top priority, so they’ve installed full CCTV here to make sure your wheels are safe and sound. Modern shower and toilet facilities are provided to help you freshen up, and there’s a lovely 10-foot firepit where guests can gather to share tips and tales. This is a lovely place to soak up a bit of rural peace – there are stunning views from the hilltop location and there are almost no neighbours so it's likely to be pretty quiet. Alpacas, peacocks, ducks and chickens roam free though, so don’t be surprised if they pay you a visit sometimes. Barbecues are permitted but you'll be asked to place them on the paving slabs provided for safety. Logs, charcoal and firelighters are sold on site, and there are supermarkets on the edge of Congleton (about 10 minutes’ ride/drive away) for other supplies. Groups are welcome at Avona Escapes, and those with over 10 people can ask the site (before their arrival) for an evening meal, with food such as barbecued goods, homemade pizzas, curry, chilli con carne or toasties for a set price per person.

What customers say

A beautiful, peaceful, adult-only campsite with stunning views. Visitors consistently praise the friendly and helpful owners/staff, the immaculate and well-maintained toilets and showers (including eco-friendly compost toilets), and the unique charm of free-roaming animals like alpacas and peacocks. While the location is generally loved for its tranquility and proximity to walks, some mention the challenging, steep access road and occasional uneven ground.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Tuesday night late March - not exactly a packed field. Loved it 🤣

Cracking location, loads of walking from site. Facilities are basic, but so much better than most of the sites I usually get to (hot water is a proper comfort).

Opening my tent in the morning gave me an unexpected but welcome llama suprise.

Super site will visit again defo

Route directions

If you follow Satnav direction, it will bring you to a small layby with three large rocks and a sign for Avona. This is the bottom of the drive. Continue to the top of the drive and then around the back of the house. Continue through the large gate in front of you to the camping field, find a space and pitch up. Keep an eye out for wet ground near the pond if it has been raining. The owners will greet you when you arrive, or if they aren’t there, they’ll visit at some point.
