Farndon Tent Camping Meadow: 10

General

  • Wild camping meadow for groups in the Cheshire countryside
  • A 20-minute drive from Chester and 45 minutes to New Brighton’s beach
  • A mile from pubs, restaurants and shops; drinking water provided

Got a gang of friends or family looking for a group camping break? Farndon Tent Camping Meadow is a good place for those who want to have a sociable break (and that includes bringing dogs too if you li e). Out in the pretty Cheshire countryside, 20 minutes’ drive away from Chester and 45 minutes from New Brighton’s beach, this is a place where the pitches are specially geared up for small group getaways.

The two and half-acre meadow is relatively flat with a slightly slanted area and plenty of space for groups to kick back and have some real quality time. Handily, there’s room enough here for each group to bring up to five tents (including gazebos), 15 guests and five cars or vans (but no motorhomes or large vans are allowed).

This is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, meaning there's plenty of wildlife around too. As a wild camping site, there are no facilities, so you’ll need your own camping toilets (there’s an Elsan point on site to dispose of waste). Aside from that, you'll be provided with an IBC with 1000 litres of water for dishwashing only, drinking water in 25-litre bottles, and bins for your rubbish.

There’s good wifi reception, so it’s not too tricky to plot out your plan of action… perhaps a local nature trail? Or into Farndon (25 minutes’ walk) for pubs, restaurants and shops?

Please note

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

Minimum spacing of 7 metres between pitches.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

No gas barbecues allowed.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

At least one of the party members must be aged 25 or over.

Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.

Owing to government regulations, groups of 15 or more people are not permitted.

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Dogs are not allowed in the accommodation units.

This site has no on-site toilet and shower facilities.

Needed a private spot for a reunion with friends where we wouldn't disturb anyone else. We had the whole site to ourselves and it was perfect. Jon helped lead us to the campsite when we gave him a call as we got close, he also helped us out by providing a fire pit for us which we used to keep ourselves warm at night!

There was plenty of water for washing dishes and for drinking provided on site, and we were able to park right next to our tent which was fab when it came to packing up with a hangover in the morning! No other facilities, but that's just what we expected and enjoyed. Would definitely stay again!

It was very Private and we were left alone.
It was secluded and as no light pollution the stars were amazing.
The campsite was a little hard to find as the post code takes you to a housing estate but when we called the owner he came and found us and we were able to follow him back to the site which was very helpful.

It could have done with some signs in and around the area to make the site easier to find.

From the manager...

Thankyou so much for your kind words. Unfortunately we are unable to put up signs on the access road as we do not own it, this is why we email maps to customers after booking and we are always happy to guide them in by phone or to go and meet them. Really glad you enjoyed it and we hope to see you again soon.
