  • Family-friendly wild camping in the parish of Bradfield
  • Hilltop location with moorland views on the edge of the Peak District
  • Spacious grass pitches with stunning views
Set on the edge of the Peak District National Park, East Peak Campsite is a pop-up on the outskirts of the village of Dungworth in South Yorkshire. With spectacular views to moorland, the hilltop camping field is flat, peaceful and well away from the sound of traffic. It also catches any available sunshine right from sunrise through to sunset. This family-friendly, back-to-basics site has grass pitches and a few event-style toilets; there's no water on site (so please bring your own) and also no electric hook-ups. From the pitches, you can soon be exploring the area on a network of footpaths leading through fields and woodland. While barbecues and firepits are allowed on the pitches, please make sure they’re raised off the ground to reduce the risk of fire spreading. There's also a strict no-music policy on site to keep things peaceful. East Peak Campsite is a handy base for road cyclists, with routes leading into the national park. Likewise, rock climbers looking for grit can easily access the East Peak crags – Agden Rocher crag is visible from the camping field, and popular climbing spots such as Rivelin, Bamford and Stanage are all within 20 minutes’ drive. If you’re backpacking or would rather abandon the car while you’re on site, it's handy that the local bus stop is 10 minutes’ walk away, with an hourly service. If you’ve got any questions about where to go and what to see, ask a member of staff – they’ll be happy to help in any way they can.

What customers say

This is a well-maintained, basic campsite offering great value and beautiful views. Visitors praise the spacious pitches, clean portaloos, and friendly, helpful owner. Its excellent location provides easy access to local walks and amenities. While exposed to the elements, the peaceful atmosphere and stunning scenery are highly appreciated. Minor issues like occasional loud music from other campers or the water tap not working were noted, but overall, the site is recommended for its simplicity and natural beauty.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Lovely campsite with amazing views. Went on the last weekend before it closes, so was only a few other groups on site. Portaloos were clean and well kept. Site was in good condition and very friendly owner when spoke to over phone and in person.

Disliked Noise from other campers. There was one group that had music on until 1am both nights which was irritating. As the site states it does not allow music, this wasn't what we expected to hear when trying to sleep! I understand groups may want to play music, but if you do then don't play it full whack so the entire site can hear it, especially late at night. We were a young group, so if we understood and abided by the rules, then a much more mature group should also be able to. Also do not expect running water when coming to this campsite, not something we disliked but something others should be aware of.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Scenic views
Our dog absolutely loved it!
Quiet
Well maintained grass field, reasonably flat
Unobtrusive, but diligent owner.
Quiet, grassy lane walks from site.
A world away, but also easy access to the City.

Disliked Nothing, but wish it would have stayed open longer into the Autumn.
If we are going to be super critical, it maybe priced a little on the high side for the facilities offered.

Liked Beautiful views, soft lush grass to pitch on, no gravel, friendly approachable owner Patrick and his dog Rosie, nice and quiet, bins, basic portaloos but nice and clean with plenty of toilet roll, and did I mention the beautiful views? 🤯

Disliked No water tap but shops 5 minutes away, come prepared.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked The views and open space
Field and a walk for the dog over the stone wall in the top left hand corner as you enter the field through the gate

Disliked Not the sites fault but someone decided to pitch his tent very close to mine then start playing football! I could hear another families TV playing and they were on the other side of the 'football' family
Another person had used the toilet whilst their dog walked itself had a poo so they were none the wiser it needed picking up!
People have no consideration for other campers
Bins full so I took my rubbish with me, I didn't use their toilets that were provided
Nobody contacted me after I booked or came to check if I had arrived
I would recommend to a friend and stay again but not during school holidays

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Lovely views, easy to book.

Disliked Not the site itself but other people, if you're turning up after acceptable hours (this was midnight), please don't camp within a metre of us in a massive field, and then proceed to hop in and out of your car several times and start it up 5 times, it's a family site with kids trying to sleep!
