  • Family-friendly wild camping in the parish of Bradfield
  • Hilltop location with moorland views on the edge of the Peak District
  • Spacious grass pitches with stunning views
Set on the edge of the Peak District National Park, East Peak Campsite is a pop-up on the outskirts of the village of Dungworth in South Yorkshire. With spectacular views to moorland, the hilltop camping field is flat, peaceful and well away from the sound of traffic. It also catches any available sunshine right from sunrise through to sunset. This family-friendly, back-to-basics site has grass pitches (there are no electric hook-ups), a few event-style toilets and a drinking water tap on the camping field. From the pitches, you can soon be exploring the area on a network of footpaths leading through fields and woodland. While barbecues and firepits are allowed on the pitches, please make sure they’re raised off the ground to reduce the risk of fire spreading. There's also a strict no-music policy on site to keep things peaceful. East Peak Campsite is a handy base for road cyclists, with routes leading into the national park. Likewise, rock climbers looking for grit can easily access the East Peak crags – Agden Rocher crag is visible from the camping field, and popular climbing spots such as Rivelin, Bamford and Stanage are all within 20 minutes’ drive. If you’re backpacking or would rather abandon the car while you’re on site, it's handy that the local bus stop is 10 minutes’ walk away, with an hourly service. If you’ve got any questions about where to go and what to see, ask a member of staff – they’ll be happy to help in any way they can.

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked Loved the views and sunset. The portaloos were spotless and cleaner than most pub or shopping centre toilets. I was lucky enough to have the entire place to myself which added to off-grid experience

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked Large field for campervans, motorhomes and tents. 2 very clean Porto loos with plenty of toilet roll supplied and hand sanitiser. A tap and bins provided including recycling. Beautiful surroundings, lovely views and walks straight from the campsite. For £10 a night it’s a bargain and I’ll definitely be back.

Disliked Disrespectful young couple who were late arrivals who had music booming from their car, engine running, horn beeped twice and then the couple were arguing and swearing. This was around 11pm and I felt it was too late to inform the owner but I know I could have done as I’d read the reviews prior to booking. If they were staying a second night I would have informed him and I know he would have spoken to them but luckily they left and I had a peaceful night the second night.
