What customers say

This is a clean, well-maintained, and peaceful site with spacious pitches and friendly staff. Visitors praised the excellent toilet and shower facilities, the on-site pub/restaurant, and the great play area for children. Lovely woodland walks are accessible from the site, and many enjoyed spotting the numerous rabbits. Some found the approach roads narrow, and noted occasional issues with Wi-Fi and noise from the play area.

Cedar Close fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch (water hook-up)

Liked Pretty much Everything. The Warden was fantastic, friendly, helpful & couldn't do enough for everyone. Site location was great, clean, peaceful, with great walks in the forest.

Disliked Road to & from is quite uneven & single track, for a good way before you reach the site, entry road into site is the worst bit.

Hazel Court electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Good facilities, 3 individual toilet / shower rooms, indoor washing up and laundry facilities, bar on site was nice with good atmosphere. Kids were really happy with the park and football field. The dog was obsessed with rabbits being everywhere! Wi-Fi really good with strong signal.

Disliked Touring pitches are on a bit of a slope, could have done with bigger levelling blocks.

Hazel Court electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Fairly level pitches. Helpful and friendly staff. Excellent bathroom facilities. Bar and restaurant. Strong Wifi. Good laundrette.
Previous pitch user left litter, which I reported and was cleared promptly along with an abandoned rabbit hole being filled in.

Disliked ‘Hazel’ pitches are near the sewage plant, which gave off a bad smell. We managed, but preferred not to have it.

Local attractions

Must be within reach of a golf course at all times? Then it’ll be handy to know that Springhouse Boutique Holiday Park is a 10-minute drive from the nearest one. If you prefer activities that’ll push your limits, try out the zipwires at Go Ape Matfen (25 minutes) or the sailing, windsurfing and open-water swimming organised by the sailing club at Derwent Reservoir (15 minutes). One big attraction around these parts is Beamish, the Living Museum of the North (40 minutes). Spread out across the countryside, its open-air exhibits re-tell the lives of local British people from the 1820s through to the 1950s. Of course, you don’t want to forget about Northumberland National Park (40 minutes) either, especially if you like hiking. The national park trails weave past hillforts, quarries, Hadrian’s Wall, hills and crags. Kielder Water (an hour) is one of the national park’s many spectacular spots, with trails heading into the forest or around the 26-mile shore. Stop by the osprey viewing point to try your luck, before sipping on a hot brew in the café.
