Remote, wild, spacious and scenic are all terms rightly fitting The Boe Rigg, in Northumberland National Park a few miles from the market town of Bellingham. Walking and cycling routes are all around here, along with a huge range of outdoor activities within a short drive including the high ropes, watersports and zipwires of Kielder Water and Forest. Also within driving distance are several famed north of England attractions such as Hadrian's Wall and Alnwick Castle, both under 40 miles, and the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, under 50. The site's excellent facilities include a café/bar open daily to sell produce and handicrafts from local growers and craftspeople. Among The Boe Rigg's other amenities are accessible washrooms with toilets and hot showers, a launderette with washers and dryers and a washing-up area. Free wifi is available in the main building. Campfires and barbecues are both allowed but must be off the ground.

Liked Absolutely everything! The staff are so kind and friendly, toilet & shower block is clean! The food was great and we got to have our breakfast outside with some chickens around us! It is such a gorgeous site :)

Liked Everything. Locations was superb as were the amenities and the staff. Food either sit in the restaurant or take out and portions were very generous. Will definitely be visiting again.

Liked Loved the animals on site. Everyone was very friendly, it was dog friendly in the bar too!

Liked Peace & quiet. Bar restaurant was great and breakfast was very good. Friendly staff. Rural location.
Restaurant bar prices very reasonable.

Disliked Bathrooms could do with some Tlc, facilities very clean though.

Liked We loved everything about this site - the staft/owners are lovely, the facilities are great ano extremely clean, our pitch was beautiful and right by the side of the pond meaning we got great views of the sheep and geese. there's also a lot of wildlife - we had ducks and ducklings on our pitch at one point. we had no issues with noise/mess/litter/etc. we found the ground in perfect condition too, we had no issues with putting our tent up, and all of our pegs/guylines stayed in place. we are hoping to be back in a couple of weeks time! would SO highly recommend!!

Disliked It isn't so much as a dislike, but we found that the washing station wasn't open on the sunday we visited. again, this isn't a dislike, more so an inconvenience because we were feeling lazy and couldn't be bothered to wash up at our tent🤣. besides this, we have no complaints at all!

Location was ok, near Bellingham

Disliked Arranged to check in after 3 but they were not there until 3.30
Minimal explanation of facilities
Toilets and showers were few and scruffy, for a large site
Wi-Fi only in the bathroom when the bar was closed
Told bar and food on from 5-8pm.
Had nice meal first night but then it was closed for the next 2 evenings, no notice or information
Camp pitch very small
No where to wash up
Very exposed site, no shelter against the wind
Chemical toilet emptying up a track in a field (I didn’t need to use it)
Would not recommend or return.

Kielder Water and Forest within 16 miles are full of watersports activities such as canoeing, sailing, and waterskiing, along with water walker and sea scooter hire. A high ropes course, climbing, zipwiring, fencing, archery and crossbow are among the many forest activities available on and above land. Three of the attractions of the Hadrian's Wall UNESCO World Heritage site are within a short drive: Housesteads Roman fort, the most complete in Britain; Vindolanda, and Chesters Roman Fort, six miles from Hexham. Also famed in the region is Alnwick Castle and Garden 37 miles away, made up of huge formal gardens including the world's largest treehouse, and in a setting that will be instantly recognised by Harry Potter fans (broomstick training is available during the summer months: how magic). The Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is about 45 miles from here, to reach Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island via moorland, countryside and ancient forest. The site is 45 miles from Carlisle.
