This is a highly recommended, well-maintained campsite with excellent, clean facilities including showers and laundry. Visitors praise the spacious pitches, friendly and helpful staff, and the beautiful, peaceful location with great views. On-site amenities like the petting farm and dog walking areas are popular, particularly for families. The site offers a variety of accommodations, and guests appreciate the secure feel and thoughtful layout. Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The location was fabulous and you were completely surrounded by glorious countryside. Great, clean showers and even a bath! It was lovely to have somewhere to exercise our dog off the lead but safe. The staff were really welcoming and the gift for our dog and top surprise

Disliked It is a quiet camp but our sleep was disturbed by a baby crying on the next pitch during the night. Perhaps they could consider separating out families with young children from adults without.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The most professionally run campsite we have been too. Next to Vindolanda and many other attractions. The grazing black and white sheep on the hill provide a beautiful background.

Running Water camping pod (five person, hot tub)

Liked Very supportive and helpful staff, layout meant the kids could all play and make new friends whilst staying close and in sight. No major frills which kept if rustic and enjoyable.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Very friendly staff, well organised and conveniently situated for Vindolanda and Hadrian’s Wall. Spotlessly clean toilet and showers and even a communal room with a good selection of board games for wet weather entertainment.
Would love to return but perhaps not during the school holiday period.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked A well thought out site with a variety of accommodations and pitches. Having animals on the site is great to see and I definitely didn’t mind the donkey honks first thing in the morning.

Disliked The stones throughout… they’re loud as cars pass by early in the morning.

Local attractions

You can walk to Hadrian’s Wall in 15 minutes, or otherwise take the AD122 Hadrian’s Wall bus service, which stops right outside and runs to all the major Roman sites. The forts of Birdoswald, Vindolanda and Housesteads are within 15 minutes’ drive, while the Roman Army Museum is 10 minutes away and The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre (five minutes) acts as both an interpretation centre and a hub for walkers. If the kids are a bit resistant to Roman heritage, try them on the tractor rides and soft-play centre at Walby Farm Park (half an hour), or set them up with dinghy sailing, duck feeding and wildlife-themed sculpture trails at Talkin Tarn Country Park (20 minutes). For wild hiking adventures over hill and dale, head for Northumberland National Park (35 minutes) or the rugged North Pennines National Landscape (20 minutes). For something more family-friendly, most kids will be happy with pottering sections of the Lakeside Way around Kielder Water (45 minutes) while watching out for the birds of prey that make Kielder Forest their home.
