Entrance to the site

  • Adults-only, dog-friendly site 15 minutes’ drive from York
  • Clifton Moor shops five minutes’ drive; Castle Howard half an hour
  • Café on site for breakfasts, sandwiches and afternoon teas
Those who wish to experience the attractions of the city of York while also waking up to the sight of endless green fields and dense woodland should consider staying at Willow House Caravan Park. From this peaceful, adults-only site (over 18s only), it’s a 15-minute drive to reach York Minster – that’s pretty handy, right? Even handier, though, is letting someone else do the driving into the city: you can catch a bus at the end of the drive. What’s more, you’re only a five-minute drive from Clifton Moor Retail Park, with its supermarkets, stores and entertainment options for rainy days (a multiscreen cinema and ten-pin bowling among them). But what about the site itself? In addition to two wildlife ponds – where you can stroll along looking at the ducks as they swim in and out of the bullrushes – there’s a café serving huge cooked breakfasts, sandwiches and wraps, all made with locally sourced produce. Oh, and afternoon teas with home-made cakes and other sweet treats. There is also a gift shop in the café. Your four-legged companion is a welcome guest here, and you can take them (or yourselves) for a walk through Westfield Wood nearby. Back on site, you’ll be able to use the wet room and washing-up area, as well as extra facilities near the café, which include showers and toilets (including facilities for disabled guests) plus a laundry area.

What customers say

This adults-only site is praised for its peaceful atmosphere, excellent location for visiting York with a convenient bus stop nearby, and clean, warm toilet and shower facilities. Many visitors enjoyed the on-site cafe and gift shop, as well as the dog walking areas. Issues noted include pot-holed access roads and occasional waterlogging of pitches, particularly after heavy rain, which the manager has stated is being addressed. Some showers had low water pressure.
