  • Adults-only, dog-friendly site 15 minutes’ drive from York
  • Clifton Moor shops five minutes’ drive; Castle Howard half an hour
  • Café on site for breakfasts, sandwiches and afternoon teas
Those who wish to experience the attractions of the city of York while also waking up to the sight of endless green fields and dense woodland should consider staying at Willow House Caravan Park. From this peaceful, adults-only site (over 18s only), it’s a 15-minute drive to reach York Minster – that’s pretty handy, right? Even handier, though, is letting someone else do the driving into the city: you can catch a bus at the end of the drive. What’s more, you’re only a five-minute drive from Clifton Moor Retail Park, with its supermarkets, stores and entertainment options for rainy days (a multiscreen cinema and ten-pin bowling among them). But what about the site itself? In addition to two wildlife ponds – where you can stroll along looking at the ducks as they swim in and out of the bullrushes – there’s a café serving huge cooked breakfasts, sandwiches and wraps, all made with locally sourced produce. Oh, and afternoon teas with home-made cakes and other sweet treats. There is also a gift shop in the café. Your four-legged companion is a welcome guest here, and you can take them (or yourselves) for a walk through Westfield Wood nearby. Back on site, you’ll be able to use the wet room and washing-up area, as well as extra facilities near the café, which include showers and toilets (including facilities for disabled guests) plus a laundry area.

What customers say

This adults-only site offers a peaceful retreat with spacious, well-maintained pitches and excellent facilities, particularly the modern wet rooms. Its proximity to York, with a bus stop conveniently located outside the entrance, is highly praised. The on-site cafe receives consistent positive feedback for its food. Minor criticisms include occasional low shower pressure and some areas of the site being waterlogged after heavy rain.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Great place to stay with everything you need .
There is a bus stop outside the camp to get you into the city centre

Disliked The camp is supposed to be adults only however there was a family of Asians there with their kids and a baby obviously the rules don't apply to them and if we object we will be classed as racists

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked A level pitch with a central grass area along the length of the site. Cafe on site was excellent and good value. Laundry facilities were good and not expensive. Bus stop outside site for trip into York.

Disliked The coded barrier had been removed therefore site not as secure as advertised. Taxis exceeding site speed limit when returning people to their pitch, creating a dust cloud and flying stones! Long hose required for shared water tap. No MH service point. Hot water supply to pot wash not guaranteed.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked What a lovely peaceful well maintained site, ideal location for doing nothing or going in to the city of York. Toilets and showers were cleaned every day , grass well maintained, perfect size pitches with electric hook up and water supply. Lovely cafe just down the path and we fell lucky as the weekend we went Haxby village was holding a festival which was an added bonus. We will be coming back.

Disliked We didn't book longer

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked This is a nice quiet campsite just outside York. A very peaceful setting as I was only there for one night. The basic amenities were very good, the showers/wet rooms were clean and surprisingly spacious, although not everyone cleaned up after using one (mop supplied to clean the floor), as I found out.
There is a lovely farm style café , which unfortunately, was closed when I arrived at 3:40. A very nice lady told me the best way to get to the nearest town for a pub meal, although there are 'fast food' outlets nearby - more on that later. She also told me it was difficult to get Uber to pick up at the site, but there was a bus service, followed by a ten minute walk to the Black Horse in Wigginton. No problem getting an Uber back though.
Breakfast in the café was lovely and filling before leaving the following morning.

Disliked Getting to the site was a real faff. The surrounding roads were mad busy when I was approaching, long queues everywhere. I thought about (briefly) stopping at one of the 'fast food' outlets but traffic was ridiculous, so I didn't.
Following morning, traffic was just as insane getting away from the site - and that's the reason I wont be back
