Entrance to the site

  • Adults-only, dog-friendly site 15 minutes’ drive from York
  • Clifton Moor shops five minutes’ drive; Castle Howard half an hour
  • Café on site for breakfasts, sandwiches and afternoon teas
Those who wish to experience the attractions of the city of York while also waking up to the sight of endless green fields and dense woodland should consider staying at Willow House Caravan Park. From this peaceful, adults-only site (over 18s only), it’s a 15-minute drive to reach York Minster – that’s pretty handy, right? Even handier, though, is letting someone else do the driving into the city: you can catch a bus at the end of the drive. What’s more, you’re only a five-minute drive from Clifton Moor Retail Park, with its supermarkets, stores and entertainment options for rainy days (a multiscreen cinema and ten-pin bowling among them). But what about the site itself? In addition to two wildlife ponds – where you can stroll along looking at the ducks as they swim in and out of the bullrushes – there’s a café serving huge cooked breakfasts, sandwiches and wraps, all made with locally sourced produce. Oh, and afternoon teas with home-made cakes and other sweet treats. There is also a gift shop in the café. Your four-legged companion is a welcome guest here, and you can take them (or yourselves) for a walk through Westfield Wood nearby. Back on site, you’ll be able to use the wet room and washing-up area, as well as extra facilities near the café, which include showers and toilets (including facilities for disabled guests) plus a laundry area.

What customers say

This is a quiet, adult-only site with good-sized, level pitches and clean, warm wet room facilities. Its main draw is the excellent location for accessing York via a bus stop directly outside the entrance. The on-site cafe receives consistent praise for its food and friendly staff. Some visitors noted issues with site maintenance, particularly during wet weather, including potholed access roads and muddy conditions. A lack of visible staff or formal reception was mentioned, with self-check-in being standard.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Great location for travelling into York by bus (hourly service). Easy to find. Fabulous cafe on site. Close to Tesco/retail park. Lovely warm wet rooms/toilets. Clean site.

Disliked No reception/warden on site and appeared to have lots of long stay/seasonal caravans, so felt a bit soulless and difficult to get pitch near facilities. Water pressure in showers poor. Pot holes in road on site - ok if driving slow though. Background road noise but not enough to disturb you.
