What customers say
Guests praise the beautiful riverside location, excellent and immaculately clean shower and toilet facilities, and well-maintained pitches. The site is considered a great base for visiting York, with easy transport links including a river taxi. On-site amenities, such as the cafe and restaurant, are also frequently highlighted. Minor points raised include occasional Wi-Fi issues, limited wash-up sinks, and the food outlet closing early.

Sunday dinner at the Bosun was exceptional, best I’ve had for some time and the Cafe Bar breakfast baps were very tasty. We will be back !
Disliked Could do with more rubbish skips, they were overflowing all weekend.
Bigger area to drain grey waste from motorhome very tight to get over the grid .

From the manager: Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review. It’s wonderful to hear that everything about your stay made a positive impression - from the helpful team and beautiful riverside setting to the facilities, walks and, of course, Bosun's, our restaurant.
Hearing that there was “nothing to dislike” is the kind of feedback that truly makes our team’s day. We’re really looking forward to welcoming you back to The Riverfront for another brilliant stay.
Lovely location and amazing showers! Would recommend.
Electric grass and gravel touring pitch (medium, no awning)
Liked The location along the River is lovely, with walks straight from the campsite. Also short walk into the village with pubs, cafe, fish and chips, Coop. Lovely clean bathrooms and the shower was amazing.
Cafe on site with the all weather pods was also a bonus particularly if the weather isn’t great.
Disliked The mens showers ran out of hot water about 8:30 in the morning. I understand it is a family friendly site but kids were noisy until 10pm which isn’t the sites fault but was quite annoying. It is a shame that the restaurant wasn’t dog friendly.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful and balanced review Michelle. It’s lovely to hear how much you enjoyed the riverside location, the walks straight from the site, the village amenities nearby and the clean facilities and we’re really pleased the café pods added something extra to your stay, especially in less‑than‑perfect weather.
Your feedback about the men’s showers running out of hot water is genuinely helpful. We’re already looking into this to make sure the system keeps up during the morning rush. We want every guest to start their day comfortably, so this is something we’ll address.
We’re also sorry to hear that evening noise affected your stay. While we do aim to keep the site family‑friendly and respectful for everyone, we understand how this can be frustrating and we’ll continue to monitor quiet‑time expectations to keep the atmosphere calm for all guests.
And finally, thank you for mentioning Bosun's - our restaurant. We know the dog‑friendly point matters to many guests, and while Bosun’s isn’t able to accommodate dogs indoors, we do welcome them on Bosun's veranda.
We really appreciate your comments and hope we’ll have the chance to welcome you back for an even better stay next time.

Liked Location for walks is good, regular bus service into/from York. (or river taxi/hire boat) Nice local pubs within walking distance. The site is very well run and looked after and facilities modern, and clean. Its set on a beautiful setting next to the river, with a cafe bar and restaurant. We walked into York (1 hour to the park) and took a bus back.
Disliked Young children running around unattended, slamming in and out of toilet facilities etc, and charging around park etc. these particular families were with adults staying together on the site in two separate vans.

We’re also really pleased the site and facilities felt well‑run, modern and clean - the team works hard to keep everything in top condition, so feedback like this means a lot.
Your comments about children running around unattended are genuinely appreciated. While we’re proud to be a family‑friendly site, we also want to ensure a relaxing environment for all guests. We’ll continue to reinforce expectations around supervision and quiet enjoyment so that everyone can make the most of their stay.
We’re glad the setting and facilities made a positive impression, and we hope we’ll have the chance to welcome you back for another peaceful visit by the river.
