Set in 10 acres of stunning North Yorkshire moors and countryside, York House Caravan Park is just 10 minutes’ drive away from Whitby – not that you’ll need much reminding, as the Gothic abbey is visible from parts of the site. This spacious site in the small village of Hawsker appeals to both couples and families – and it must be doing something right, as guests often come back year after year. There are two play areas for kids, and also plenty of opportunities for gentle strolls and relaxing in the peaceful surroundings. It’s a canine-friendly place too, with a dedicated dog-walking field. From the site, there’s easy access to the Cinder Track, a 21-mile path along the disused railway from Whitby to Scarborough. Leaving the car behind on your adventures? There's a good bus service from Hawsker to Scarborough in one direction and Middlesbrough in the other. On-site facilities include a well-maintained shower block, a washing-up and laundry room, and – saving the best news for last – a bar and restaurant for those days when you just don’t feel like catering for yourselves. There’s also a local pub five minutes’ walk away, which serves tasty home-cooked food and a good selection of drinks.

Great pitch lovely space for the dog to roam

Beautiful scenery from top of the dog walking field.

Curry in the onsite restaurant that i would most definitely recommend.

Liked: Lovely site with good facilities. Great breakfast in the cafe, quick, nicely cooked and served with a smile. Enjoyed the bar in the evening. Good service and good selection of drinks.

Liked: Really great find, this campsite is lovely, clean, with great amenities. The pitches for tents are flat lawned areas with accessible electric hook ups and multiple water taps.
The showers & toilets are great also, never too busy and centrally located.
The staff were very nice and helpful and the site & bar has good WiFi access if that’s what you want.
There is also a great bar near the entrance which has a good selection of beers & wines and offers a nice selection of cooked meals. The whole place is dog friendly

Liked: Fabulous reception when we arrived. The young lady on reception was informative and knowledgeable about the local area and recommended the Hare and Hounds local pub for dinner, which was amazing. The food was second to none. The facilities were very good, clean and easily accessible. It was a quiet , clean and peaceful site. Highly recommend*****

Liked: Very clean site. Nice bar with outside seating. Didn’t try the daytime or evening food but what we saw looks good. We had a breakfast on the morning we left and it was very nice. Fantastic dog area were we could let our puppy run free and be safe. Staff are all very friendly.

Disliked: Shower Ok but could do with a shelf for soap shampoo etc while showering. Also a curtain between you and the door to stop the floor getting wet for when you are getting dressed. Electric is a bit of a pain as you have to buy prepaid cards and if you don’t use it all there is no refund. I don’t know why because when you use a card it gets small holes stamped in them so it is quite easy to see the unused cards. The price for the pitch is equivalent to a lot of sites were the electric is included.

Disliked: Location of the motorhome grey waste area, a little out of position. Did to the location, it blocked the road sure to the angle you needed to be

Liked: Clean site, friendly staff in the cafe/bar,good location for walks to Whitby and Robin hoods bay.

Disliked: Toilets (gents) need more than one visit from staff to replace loo roll and clean,
Cost of the pitch then paying for electric makes it expensive.

Local attractions

York House Caravan Park is nicely located on the eastern edge of the North York Moors National Park. It's a short drive from here to Robin Hood’s Bay (five minutes’ drive), where ghost walks tell the story of times gone by. For a small taste of the village's smugglers' history, head to the museum. For hikers, there are fine choices around such as the 109-mile Cleveland Way (five minutes) through the North York Moors, and the Coast to Coast Path (five minutes) ending at Robin Hood’s Bay. Those who prefer to travel at higher speeds can take the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from the station in Whitby (10 minutes) – after spending some time exploring the famed abbey, of course. Goathland (20 minutes) is a popular destination – it's the home of the TV series 'Heartbeat' and starred in the Harry Potter films too. There are so, so, so many pretty spots along the coast that you might find it hard to choose where to spend your time. However, Ravenscar (20 minutes), a pretty coastal village with splendid cliffs, and the more ‘happening’ Scarborough (half an hour) are some very nice picks.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs

Dogs are not allowed if you are staying in the accommodation units.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
