  • Clean and up-to-date amenities
  • Licensed shop, play area and launderette
Set in North Yorkshire countryside on the outskirts of the village of Slingsby, Robin Hood Caravan Park is a pretty, family-run site with a good range of amenities, six miles east of Malton and close to the North York Moors. The well-kept park includes a treasure trail for your little treasures (around the park and into the local village) and a play area with swings, climbing frame, bouncers and slide, all on safe surfacing. There's also a licensed shop, a launderette and a clean and cosy toilet and shower block with hairdryers and shaving points. Local village of Slingsby is within walking distance of the park and has a country pub serving home-cooked meals and a social club where guests are able to enjoy a drink or two.

What customers say

This is a clean, quiet, and well-maintained site with large, level, and fully serviced pitches. Visitors appreciated the friendly staff, convenient location for exploring the moors and nearby towns, and short walk to village amenities including a pub. While generally positive, some guests experienced unreliable Wi-Fi and mobile signal, and a few found the push-button showers to be short-running.

Liked The pitch size is great and spacious. Easy to drive into and set up.
Private to a degree which was lovely
Site is super quiet as there is no club house etc which we dont like. It means kids are truly safe to ride their bikes and scooters.
Little park at top of site which is safe and decent size. Good spots for football too. But dont go here if you want activities for the kids it isnt that type of site (which is why we like it!)
Location is spot on for exploring this part of Yorkshire too. Lovely walks just outside the site too into Slingsby which has a small park and tyre swing.
Toilets & showers were basic but clean(ish) and good that they were contained in one cubicle so truly private when needed. I liked this element vs other caravan sites we’d stayed at.

Disliked Shop had limited stock but we know this as we go to this site regularly so stock up before arriving. It’s open 1hr on a morning and 1hr on an afternoon.
Wifi which is free is useless as I know most people have mentioned. And normal service is limited due to location so note this before travelling (download books ahead of trip etc)

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave another review and for choosing to stay with us again. It's lovely to hear that you continue to enjoy the spacious pitches, peaceful atmosphere and safe environment for children to enjoy bikes, scooters and games. We're also pleased that our location continues to be a great base for exploring the local area.

Thank you too for your comments about the shop and Wi-Fi. Our shop is intentionally kept small, to provide the essentials, with opening hours designed to cover the busiest times of day.

With regard to the Wi-Fi, we do operate a fair usage policy, meaning download speeds are managed so that all guests can access the service. This does mean it isn't intended for high-bandwidth activities such as streaming films or downloading large files, as these can significantly affect the connection for everyone on the park. Had you mentioned any issues during your stay, we'd have been more than happy to look into the websites or apps you were trying to use and the device you were connecting with, as this can sometimes help us identify a specific problem.

Thank you again for your continued support, and we look forward to welcoming you back for your next visit.

Liked Large clean & tidy pitches.
Friendly staff.
Quite location.
Toilets/showers were clean with plenty of hot water.
Short walk to village pub, (good pizza's).
Good location for the moors and bigger towns.

Disliked Push button showers don't run for very long, not helpful if wife has long hair....
Wifi was a bit hit and miss, if we had motorhome between us and the mast (located on shower/toilet block even though we were only 3 pitches away, max 50m), if stood outside van with clear line of site to shower block signal was adequate.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We're pleased to hear you had an enjoyable stay with us and found Robin Hood Caravan Park to be a good base for exploring the area.

We're sorry the Wi-Fi wasn't as reliable as you had hoped. Had we known while you were here, we'd have been happy to take a look, as reception can sometimes vary depending on the position of vehicles and the device being used.

We appreciate your feedback and hope to see you again in the future.

We'll be back.

Disliked No mobile phone signal for miles. On site WiFi very poor. Struggled to get a signal for WiFi and when I did it Wouldn’t always let me log on.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We're pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and had the opportunity to explore some of the local area during your visit.

We’re sorry to hear you experienced issues with the WiFi during your stay. Had we been made aware at the time, we would have been more than happy to investigate this for you.

Mobile phone signal can vary depending on network provider and individual devices. We live on site ourselves and all use mobile phones without any signal issues, so this is something best raised directly with your provider.

Liked Lovely spacious pitches. Beautiful clean site. Option of 2 shower blocks, one new one older but perfectly clean just older, i actually used older ones as pitch closer. Local village great for a walk. Site owner very friendly just says hello then leaves you be and handy little shop for essentials 😉

Disliked Nothing some might say wifi but iffy but great for us so chilled and relaxed.

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch

Liked Very spacious pitches, large grassed area as well for use. Good service points. Quiet and a great location with a park for children. We had a section to ourselves for the first night, it was bliss.

Disliked Chemical waste disposal was out of the way down with statics. Not the fault of the caravan park but extremely weak signal for WiFi and phones.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review. We're so pleased you enjoyed the spacious pitch, peaceful surroundings and family-friendly atmosphere. It sounds like you had a wonderfully relaxing first night with that area all to yourselves!

We're sorry the chemical waste disposal point you found wasn't as convenient as it could have been. We actually have three disposal points around the park and are always happy to point guests in the right direction. Unfortunately, mobile and WiFi signals can be a bit patchy in our rural location, although this does vary between providers. We hope to see you again soon.

Local attractions

This is an excellent base from which to explore the lush landscapes of Yorkshire, from the Wolds to the Moors; it’s also easy to get to the Yorkshire coastline and the resorts of Scarborough, Filey and Whitby, all with lots to see and do. For ramblers and cyclists, the Cleveland Way and Wolds Way both pass nearby, and there's diverse territory to explore, from wild moorland to dense forest, with plenty of lovely villages (and excellent pubs) in between. Harry Potter fans and locomotive lovers can have a trip aboard the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, which chuffs its way across 18 miles of scenery and includes a stop at Goathland, the terminus for the Hogwarts Express. A 15-mile drive away is the ancient city of York, where visitors can walk around the city walls, be humbled by the majesty of the Minster, or take in one of the myriad museums and attractions. The National Railway Museum and Castle Museum are both highly recommended, and bloodthirsty bairns will enjoy York Dungeons and the growling Vikings in the reconstructions at the brilliant Jorvik Viking Centre. The streets are jampacked with tearooms, restaurants, bars and interesting independent shops: try Stonegate, Swinegate and the medieval Shambles for the best of the shopping. Castle Howard is very close by: take in the 18th-century architecture and interiors, roam around the gardens, woods and lakes, and keep the kids amused with a boat trip or a romp around the adventure playground. The packed events programme includes regular arts, crafts and produce markets, concerts and themed weekends. Also nearby are the Eden Camp World War II museum, Flamingoland adventure park and zoo, Dalby Forest and the treetop adventures of Go Ape.
