Spacious and green site

  • Spacious site between the Yorkshire Dales and Forest of Bowland
  • Within half an hour of the Three Peaks, Malham Cove and Gisburn Forest
  • Fully-licensed bar, shop and a popular pizza oven; bike storage
Got a bike? Get on it and pedal over to Dalesbridge, a cycle-friendly site between the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland. Spacious and family-run, it is within half an hour's drive of all three Yorkshire Three Peaks for hikes up Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent. First things first, though, head to the on-site shop to collect some local information and a map of the local area; many walking and cycling routes begin directly from the site. There is lockable bike storage on site for your valued two-wheeled vehicles, as well as a cycle wash area so you can hose the mud off after long days up hills and down dales. Half an hour’s drive away is the Gisburn Forest, where mountain bikers of all ages, fitness and nerve can pedal a route to suit. The Dales trails and Bowland bike paths aren't the only thing to look forward to, as Dalesbridge is a peaceful family site with spectacular scenery in all directions. There’s ample room, staff who are happy to help, and most importantly for mountain roamers returning with a thirst, a fully licensed bar (open at certain times). There is also a pizza oven and an on-site shop, where you can stop off for coffee, rolls and pastries at the weekend. Based in Austwick, the site is a 10-minute drive from the historic local market town Settle which has shops and supermarkets. The Settle-Carlisle railway is also a short drive away.

What customers say

This well-maintained campsite boasts stunning views and a prime location for exploring local walks. Visitors consistently praise the friendly and helpful staff, clean facilities, and spacious, level pitches. The on-site bar and wood-fired pizzas are frequently highlighted as excellent amenities. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, a few minor points were raised regarding occasional road noise and limited shop opening hours. Overall, it's a highly recommended site with many vowing to return.

Electric grass pitch

Liked The two hosts Mark and Mark were delightful and so helpful. It really set the mood for the whole weekend. It was wonderful to find that the site had a pub with Craft Beer AND we were able to pair it up with a homemade pizza on Saturday night.
The setting was so beautiful and we had a lovely time in both Settle and Austwick

Disliked The 3 night minimum booking was a bit restricting

Electric grass pitch

Liked Team friendly can’t do enough for you. On site bar, good beer nice grassy pitch.

Disliked The place needs a spruce up. Buildings look scruffy. Staff only Moho area scruffy. No segregation of pitches on site so people spread out, tent pitched sideways and not lengthways, canopy and car, if all did that would not fit in. Not abiding 3 meter rule. Staff need to enforce. No seats in showers so everything gets wet. People noise till midnight. Needs a Warden walk round telling people it’s bedtime 10:30pm whispers only. Needs staff to walkround advising and enforce the rules Take a fresh view of the site improve and it could be a brilliant place.

Local attractions

Starting 10 minutes away, the walk to Ingleton Falls is gentle but rewarding, and even though you’re heading deep down instead of up, the caverns and wild rock formations of Whitescar and Ingleborough caves make for unmissable wanders. For walks with wildlife, make the half-hour trip to Malham Cove, where a pair of nesting peregrine falcons can be spotted in the summer months, alongside resident populations of jackdaws and housemartins. You can climb the massive amphitheatre cliffs of the cove, or follow trails up and around taking in the glacial Malham Tarn and Janet’s Foss waterfall. To see some wildlife at closer quarters, the Settle Falconry Centre (five minutes' drive) has daily displays of flying and feeding and if you feel you’d like to soar through the skies, the Ribble Viaduct section of the Settle-Carlisle Railway makes a fair imitation. If all this outdoor, high altitude stuff has made you peckish, head over to the Wensleydale Creamery (40 minutes) to learn how the famed crumbly cheese is made… and then sample some, but of course.
