  • Small and secure site in North Yorkshire three miles from Selby
  • Perfect for families and groups of friends who camp together
  • Great for cyclists following the C2C/Trans Pennine Trail
You may be heading to North Yorkshire to tour market towns and historic cities or to get down to walking, cycling or wildlife spotting around its trails. No matter what you’re plotting to do, Dove Cote Lodge is a small, safe and secure base 10 minutes’ drive away from Selby, half an hour from York and a 15-minute walk away from Cliffe, where you can pick up the Trans Pennine Trail. There’s a real intimate feel here, as there’s a large barbecue area and a central firepit that’s shared between the guests, making the site particularly suited to solo travellers, families or groups of friends. Those of you who are cycling or walking along the Trans Pennine Trail may also find this site a handy rest stop, as it’s so close by. Other shared facilities on site include a sheltered dishwashing area and an amenities block with toilets and showers - so the basics are nicely covered. For extra convenience, there’s a communal fridge so that you may keep your drinks chilled or food fresh ready for the next stop on your itinerary. There’s a good array of public footpaths and walks close by this site too, as well as a village shop, pub and butchers around half an hour’s walk away, so you’ll be able to get your hands on snacks, essentials and dishier meals quite easily to power you around the trails.

What customers say

This is a small, clean, and well-maintained campsite with spacious pitches. Guests appreciated the friendly hosts, excellent facilities including a fridge/freezer, and the tranquil atmosphere. The site is conveniently located near Selby with good access to amenities. A "toybox" with games is a thoughtful touch for children. Some guests noted potential road and train noise, and advised that motorhomes may not be suitable due to turning restrictions.

Electric optional grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Its a small site, only 5 pitches.
Facilities close to the pitch and clean.
Hosts very friendly.
Has washing up facilities with a fridge and freezer.
Water tap on field.
No issues with phone signal.
Have EHU but didnt use.
Was lovely listening to all the birds around.
Close to Selby and shops.

Disliked No fault of the site but close to a main road and train line so can hear traffic and trains honking all hours (although does die down overnight) so wouldn't class as fully peaceful.
Shared the site with others who all knew each other so they sat around the fire bit and bbq meaning we were unable to use it without intruding. They were also very noisy till the early hours.

Liked A fantastic, small campsite in a great location with spacious, level pitches which were really well looked after. There were plenty of places to walk the dog nearby too. The facilities were clean :) We had no issues at all, a perfect stay!

Electric optional grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked This was my 1st trip in my van. Dove Cote is a nice site in the countryside and was quiet. With only half a dozen pitches the site has a welcoming feel. The toilets and showers are adequate and well looked after by the owners. The owners are rightly very proud of their little site and it was nice to meet Liz to tell her how good my stay was. Will definitely return soon to this beautiful little site. Some Decent pub grub within short travelling distance by car at the Black Dog Inn at Camblesforth Selby.

Liked Such a beautiful quiet area with power outlets, clean bathrooms and shower.
Didnt smell strongly of manure or have loud farm animals waking you early morning. The managers of the site were very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely come again.

Liked Lovely little campsite, plenty of information provided ahead of our stay which meant we could just turn up, pitch up and get on with our holiday.

Plenty of space for kids to play. Showers and toilets well kept and clean. Fridge and freezer very useful, especially the freezer this week to freeze some ice packs for our days out!

Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a campsite in the area.
