  • A small, safe and secure site in N Yorkshire
  • Perfect for families and groups of friends who camp together
  • Great for cyclists following the C2C/Trans Pennine Trail
You may be heading to North Yorkshire to tour market towns and historic cities or to get down to walking, cycling or wildlife spotting around its trails. No matter what you’re plotting to do, Dove Cote Lodge is a small, safe and secure base 10 minutes’ drive away from Selby, half an hour from York and a 15-minute walk away from Cliffe, where you can pick up the Trans Pennine Trail. There’s a real intimate feel here, as there’s a large barbecue area and a central firepit that’s shared between the guests, making the site particularly suited to families and groups of friends. Those of you who are cycling or walking along the Trans Pennine Trail may also find this site a handy rest stop, as it’s so close by. Other shared facilities on site include a sheltered dishwashing area and an amenities block with toilets and showers - so the basics are nicely covered. For extra convenience, there’s a communal fridge so that you may keep your drinks chilled or food fresh ready for the next stop on your itinerary. There’s a good array of public footpaths and walks close by this site too, as well as a village shop, pub and butchers around half an hour’s walk away, so you’ll be able to get your hands on snacks, essentials and dishier meals quite easily to power you around the trails.

Power optional grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: The layout and space between pitches was great. Only a small site with 5 pitches which suited us as we like quiet campsites. Toilet facilities were very clean. Great washing up area with two fridges to store food. The shared fire pit was a hit with everyone on the campsite. Items for sale such as logs/firewood and marshmallows with an honesty box was a lovely touch.

Disliked: Dislikes are very minor and completely outweighed by the likes. The entrance signage was very difficult to see when we arrived after dark, due to the brightness of the lights on the front. When we used the showers the water pressure seemed to struggle when other campers came to use the toilets at the same time. The showers themself were great, water temperature just right and very clean.

Power optional grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: Lovely site with shower block and communal fire pit. 20 min walk to local pub both left and right out of the site.

Disliked: There was a constant beep during the night but this maybe temporary. Apparently it is to deter miles. As there only 5 pitches it would be nice if EHU was included in the price.

Power optional grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: Very clean site, with just 5 large pitches. Owners are really friendly, and can't do enough for you. Area is fairly rural and so days out are by car. Good areas (just off site) to walk the dog. Supermarket with EV rapid charger less than 5 miles away. Will definitely be staying here again.

Disliked: No dislikes.
