General

  • Set over 55 acres of countryside, with on-site coarse fishing
  • Two country pubs serving food within a mile
  • Shop selling fishing tackle and bait

Are you looking to land a stay near water in North Yorkshire? And possibly land some slippery specimens too? Have a stay at Stonebridge Fishing Lakes near Northallerton, a site with fishing as well as many a fishy thing to buy in the site shop.

Not enthused by angling? Potter off around Stonebridge and its surrounds instead: the site is set over 55 acres of site countryside and has easy access to the A1 and the A19 from its setting in the village of Little Fencote. The North York Moors National Park is a few miles past nearby Northallerton.

Stonebridge has a new toilet and shower block with separate ladies' and gents' facilities, a disabled toilet and a wetroom was added in 2017. The site shop sells bait, tackle and fresh maggots for that casting off, as well as charcoal and firelighters.

Two country pubs are within a mile or so the Black Horse to the north and the Coore Arms just over a mile to the south. Both serve homemade, traditional pub food.

Please note that Stonebridge is a working fishery/farm and has equipment and machinery in designated areas. Prices are designed to reflect this. No extra charges are made for awnings or cars.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Fishing is only included in the glamping rates. Charges apply if you are booking a camping pitch.

For barbecues and firepits: fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site. Please don't bring your own so they know what's being burnt.

Due to being a working fishery and farm, the site undergoes constant maintenance and improvement. This is not a perfectly manicured site: equipment and machinery will be around the grounds. Prices are kept low to reflect this.

Very quiet very clean great price, we couldn’t get tickets for a nearby vw campervan show so we decided to stay nearby. We did stay at this site a few years ago and loads of improvement has been done since then. It’s a lovely site to walk around the 2 lakes. Will defiantly attend again !

Relaxed site. We had BBQ's. Lovely to go down to the lake and watch the men fishing. Richard was very helpful in sorting out the lights in the showers for my husband.

    Disliked:

Lights in the showers went off too quickly and my husband had problems as he couldn't move very quick, due to illness. He spoke to Richard about this and it was resolved straight away. Very good. Thank you.

Plenty of room between pitches ,nice settings.

    Disliked:

Our stay was spoilt by two little girls who caused nothing but trouble, they left the toilets in a disgusting state and when I was using the toilet they came in shouting and screaming and banging on the cubicle doors.I confronted the bald headed woman who was in charge of the girls but all I got from her was verbal abuse.Totally unnecessary behaviour from the woman and 2 girls, people like that spoil it for everyone and she should be banned from the caravan site.

From the A1 leave at Junction 51. If you're travelling south on the A1, turn left at the roundabout (travelling north on the A1, turn right at the first roundabout) and straight on at the next two roundabouts. At the next roundabout, take the first exit. Continue on this road for about 3/4 mile and you will see a left turn to Scruton. Follow the road into the village, past The Coore Arms and continue along this road all the way until you reach Stonebridge Fishing Lakes on the left.

Please note that satnav will direct you to Little Fencote village rather than to Stonebridge Fishing Lakes.

Local attractions

Nearby Northallerton and Richmond are both traditional market towns, with old centres alongside more modern buildings, cafés, shops, pubs and restaurants. Northallerton's market days are on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

From Northallerton, it's a few miles along the A694 to reach hikes, strolls, bike rides and other activities of the North York Moors National Park. The village of Osmotherley to the west of the national park is a good starting point for walkers as the 110-mile Cleveland Way runs through it; for something even more energetic, try the 40-mile Lyke Wake Walk, starting outside Osmotherley and cutting across the highest of the moors.

For a spot of history, trundle along the Wensleydale Railway's 22 miles of track between Northallerton West and Redmire, where six steam trains run every weekend.

Must see

  • Jervaulx Abbey (8.6 miles)
  • Richmond Castle (8.8 miles)
  • Easby Abbey (EH) (8.8 miles)

National Trust

  • Moulton Hall (7.2 miles)
  • Mount Grace Priory (10.2 miles)
