  • Family-run site at the former railway station in Masham
  • Ripon and Fountains Abbey less than half an hour's drive away
  • A 20-minute walk from the town centre, pubs and breweries
Keep your North Yorkshire holiday plans on track at Old Station Caravan Park, a quiet, well-established holiday park on the site of a former railway station. Set on the eastern side of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in a rural setting, this site is on the edge of Masham, a lovely little town with cafés and pubs to peruse at your leisure. This family-run site is roughly a 20-minute walk from the town centre, where two breweries – Theakston’s and Black Sheep – are on hand for beer fans who want to see where their favourite ales are crafted. If you’re not up for the walk, or want to get out to more far-flung destinations, there’s also a bus stop just outside the gates that can whisk you off to various places without the need to drive. Some of the things you may like to visit nearby include the Dales peaks of Ingleborough and Whernside (both of which are visible from site), the famed cheese producers of Wensleydale and heritage spots like Fountains Abbey. York, Harrogate and Ripon are all easily doable for day trips too. On-site facilities include a small shop, a laundry room, a washing-up point and a well-maintained heated amenities block. The team at Old Station Caravan Park pride themselves on their attention to detail and doing their utmost to ensure a splendid stay, so just ask if you've got any queries.

What customers say

This is a consistently well-maintained and clean campsite with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Guests praise the excellent location, a short walk from Masham, and the spotless toilet and shower facilities. The on-site cafe is also a popular bonus. Some visitors found pitches to be small, and occasional noise from a nearby farm was noted, which is beyond the site's control. A few minor issues with facilities were addressed by management.

Electric grass touring caravan pitch

Liked Friendly staff and very helpful. Toilets and showers clean and spacious. Good washing up facilities and washing facilities if needed. Good location for walk in to Masham.

Disliked Small site with very tight pitches. Very difficult to do pitch up if you have a caravan. Would be difficult to pitch if you didn't have a motor mover. Pitches and site way too small for us. Minimal space for sitting outside etc. Also, £5 electric included per night but if you use over more electric needs to be purchased.

Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch

Liked We loved the site, very friendly and lots of information available about the surrounding area & places to visit, handy as a stopover en route or as a base for a few nights, village of masham a 10-15 min walk, cafe on site which is a lovely bonus

Disliked .. this
Is not a dislike … just an opinion Could do with a bit larger pitches in terms of the gravel area otherwise couldn’t fault it

Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch

Liked Location.
Pitches nice and spacious.
Grass mowed and well maintained

Disliked Some broken toilet facilities and hairdryer not working in women’s toilets.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review.
I am sorry your experience was not the best as far as the toilet facilities. We did rectify this as soon as we were aware there was a blockage due to someone putting some underwear down the toilet which caused this.
Once was aware of the hairdryer being broken I have removed it ordered a replacement, due in today. this has been broke by miss use unfortunately.
I can only apologies that your stay with us was not perfect, but do hope you will return and give us another chance in the future.

Great site, all the facilities you need, friendly, safe site.

Local attractions

It's really quite a breeze to get to Ripon (20 minutes' drive) – the cathedral city can be reached by car simply by driving south for a while down the A6108, and there’s also a bus service that departs from Masham several times daily that should get you there in about half an hour. Want a sense of what it was like to be banged up in the 1800s? Make tracks for Ripon’s well-reviewed Prison and Police Museum. Fountains Abbey (25 minutes) is another must-see for all fans of history. The 12th-century abbey itself was all but destroyed during the dissolution of the monasteries under Henry VIII, but its striking ruins still stand today against a brilliant backdrop of 800 acres of meticulously-tended water gardens. For food-focused jaunts, meanwhile, you could set your sights on Pateley Bridge (30 minutes), home to The Oldest Sweet Shop in the World (certified by no less an authority than Guinness World Records), or alternatively stick to savoury flavours in Hawes (50 minutes), where cheese is on the agenda at Wensleydale Creamery.
