General

  • Small quiet family-run site with many walks all around
  • Two miles from Ribblehead and its viaduct
  • Cooked breakfasts, packed lunches and homemade cake all for sale

Philpin Farm is a small quiet site set on a family-run hill farm in the Yorkshire Dales, between Ingleborough and Whernside 2 of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, five miles from the nearest village of Ingleton and two miles from Ribblehead Station and viaduct on the famed Settle to Carlisle Railway.

This is walking country: many walks are available straight from the site, from easy strolls to climbing the three peaks of Ingleborough, Whernside or Penyghent). Rock climbing and caving is also around nearby

The site is small and two-tiered, with accommodation areas at the bottom and top of a small hill (the car park is adjacent to the top area as no cars are allowed on the camping field). A new shower and loo block with washing-up facilities was added for the 2016 season.

The farm barn is available to eat and mingle in, and has a snack bar open in it at weekends; also available to buy on site are cooked breakfasts, packed lunches and homemade cakes - just ask when you arrive - as well as socks, gloves, hats and rain ponchos if you've come a tad unprepared.

Barbecues are allowed on site if raised off the ground (strictly no fires please). The farm has a strict no-noise policy at night, so settle down here if you want a peaceful stay.

A pub is about 500 metres from the site and another is at Ribblehead two miles away.

Please note that as it's a secluded site, Philpin Farm has limited mobile reception and no wifi.

Please note

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

The farmer was especially friendly and accomodating. For the price, amenities are excellent with hot showers and wifi. Around 400m from the start line for the yorkshire 3 peaks and has a lot more to it than the officially camping site.

    Disliked:

Would be nice to have a kitchenette or something to cook in. The ground suitable for camping is very limited in the field with a big slope in the middle and damp conditions at the bottom.

We managed to get a pitch close to the shower block and barn. This was useful at it rained for most of the time we were there. There are two distinct pitch locations as the camping field is on a steep hill. So the best pitches are at the top of the hill and if you arrive too late, you'll have to camp at the bottom of the hill.
The site is very close to a pub, but you have to be organised and a book a table if you want to guarantee food availability.
