  • Family-run site a short walk from the village of Cherry Burton
  • In the Yorkshire Nature Triangle, three miles from Beverley
  • Eco-friendly site with modern facilities and wildlife pond
It’s not easy to choose between the buzz of a city break, splendid countryside views and seaside shenanigans… and why should you have to? Settle instead for a sweet spot that's got access to it all, at Cherry Burton Leisure Park. Set across six acres, this family-run East Yorkshire site is handily located for visiting Hull (a 20-minute drive) and the east coast beaches at Hornsea (25 minutes) and Bridlington (35 minutes). Cherry Burton village, a few minutes’ walk from the site, ticks off plenty of essentials – including a kids' park, playing fields, a small supermarket and a pub – and the surrounding villages host a selection of food and drink places, ranging from traditional to Michelin-starred (if you’re feeling fancy). For some fresh air, get yourself on one of the local walking and cycling routes (including the Yorkshire Wolds Way and Hudson Way) and explore the area at your own pace. You don’t need to be a pro, but Cherry Burton has been on the route of the Tour De Yorkshire several times, so you know you’re in for a good ride if that’s your thing. If you’re not a fan of the whole back-to basics-approach, worry not, for the facilities at this place (including accessible showers and toilets) are modern ones… and eco-friendly too, with LED lighting and solar panels for minimal environmental impact. Keep an eye out for wild critters as you wander – they're fans of this place (and no wonder, given that they're well supplied with bird and bat boxes, feeding tables, hedgehog tunnels, bee hotels and a wildlife pond).

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: It was very quiet when we arrived. The site had only 2 other caravans. The pub was closed. Chris was very friendly and showed us around. We will definitely come again.

Disliked: The site needs a bit of TLC .

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Friendly owner, clean and well kept, with good working showers, one of the better shower blocks I have seen on a camp site in ages. 15 minute walk into Cherry Burton and the local pub that does grub. ½ hour drive into the centre of Hull or if you wanted to a bit of shopping for food etc, you could drive into Beverley or Kingswood on the edge of Hull, both approximately 10mins in the car. Dogs are welcome and Beverley West wood is approx ½ hr to 45 minutes walk away. There is a marquee which is open when the site gets full/height of the season, which has a bar and a pizza oven too (not open at this time as not to capacity). Will definitely be back to this little gem though.

Disliked: Nothing

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: This site has huge potential. Great access to Beverly & York. Brilliant dog walks locally. Toilets & shower block very modern.

Disliked: It feels like the site is going through some development works which is great but should be told on booking. Their own website is misleading and I think shoes the ambition of the site not the reality. All of the flower beds around the site were overgrown, some of the lights lining the pathways were broken and filled with water. The bar area looked abandoned, with benches all over the place, but not in a good way and the marquee was torn at the front in several places. The showers are some if the best I have seen but the heating was off and only 1 shower, no.5, was hot. The road outside never stops and is a national speed limit so really noisy. It's such a shame as I cam imagine this site could be awesome. Just needs some TLC.

Liked: Really big site and as it was October there were only a few others there which is great for us, not getting disturbed by others etc. bathroom facilities were great, really big and clean look pretty new. Would like to go back in the summer months.

Disliked: Close to a road that seems to attract boy racers

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Great hosts, very welcoming and caring. Good toilet/washroom facilities. Bar venue available which served excellent pizzas.

Disliked: Grass at pitch could have been mown better and areas containing thistles removed. Perhaps just toilets available as having toilets in with showers made for long waits when families in shower room Local information available for bus times, attractions etc would be helpful

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Lovely big gravel pitch with plenty of grass area at the side..unusually we could choose our own preferred pitch which is nice.. Beautiful toilet/shower block which were advertised as 5 star..certainly didn't dissapoint There was a marquee with bar and we were lucky enough to be entertained for a few hours by a local band (called Dead Feet) great night was had by all.....and it was free... Well done to Cherry Burton!!!!

Disliked: Only negative thing was site is very close to main road which is quite noisy at times....it took a little getting used to Certainly didn't spoil our stay but it needs mentioning..

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Very impressed with the site. The owners have a pizza oven where they make pizzas to order. We thought it was reasonably priced and ordered a couple, which were delicious. They have a marquee with Kirsty’s bar where we enjoyed a few drinks, again reasonably priced, on Saturday along with live band who are local and got the crowd singing and enjoying the banter. The ‘toilet block’ are individual bathrooms with a shower, toilet sink and hooks to hang your clothes. In the many years that we have camped, these are definitely the best bathrooms I’ve ever experienced on a campsite. Although the site is small, it has tourers, tents, glam tents and luxury lodges which are hand built by the owners. Also dog friendly, although we didn’t bring ours. I would happily highly recommend this site and hopefully return again.

Local attractions

The historic market town of Beverley is three miles away – feast your eyes on the impressive Beverley Minster, a real gothic masterpiece, or wander to North Bar, a 15th-century brick-built defensive gate. When history class is dismissed, it’s over to the Westwood, a big open space ideal for picnics and post-lunch strolls. Beverley's also known for its racecourse, so a day of watching the gee-gees is an option; non-horsey types might prefer to hit the shops at the Flemingate complex, where there’s also a choice of eats, a cinema and an inflatable theme park. The site is within the Yorkshire Nature Triangle, so wildlife experiences are a must. Wander around Tophill Low Nature Reserve (a 20-minute drive) to spot otters, dragonflies and birds of all shapes and sizes, or visit North Cave Wetlands (25 minutes) – its six lakes and numerous bird hides make it a popular place for twitchers. If that’s up your street, you might want to stop off at Bempton Cliffs reserve (45 minutes), where around half a million seabirds gather between March and October.
