  • Family-run site a short walk from the village of Cherry Burton
  • In the Yorkshire Nature Triangle, three miles from Beverley
  • Eco-friendly site with modern facilities and wildlife pond
It’s not easy to choose between the buzz of a city break, splendid countryside views and seaside shenanigans… and why should you have to? Settle instead for a sweet spot that's got access to it all, at Cherry Burton Leisure Park. Set across six acres, this family-run East Yorkshire site is handily located for visiting Hull (a 20-minute drive) and the east coast beaches at Hornsea (25 minutes) and Bridlington (35 minutes). Cherry Burton village, a few minutes’ walk from the site, ticks off plenty of essentials – including a kids' park, playing fields, a small supermarket and a pub – and the surrounding villages host a selection of food and drink places, ranging from traditional to Michelin-starred (if you’re feeling fancy). For some fresh air, get yourself on one of the local walking and cycling routes (including the Yorkshire Wolds Way and Hudson Way) and explore the area at your own pace. You don’t need to be a pro, but Cherry Burton has been on the route of the Tour De Yorkshire several times, so you know you’re in for a good ride if that’s your thing. If you’re not a fan of the whole back-to basics-approach, worry not, for the facilities at this place (including accessible showers and toilets) are modern ones… and eco-friendly too, with LED lighting and solar panels for minimal environmental impact. Keep an eye out for wild critters as you wander – they're fans of this place (and no wonder, given that they're well supplied with bird and bat boxes, feeding tables, hedgehog tunnels, bee hotels and a wildlife pond).

Tulip 1 bedroom microlodge

Liked Lovely Location: Beautiful setting and pitch location near Beverley.
Great Cabin Potential: The overall structure and layout of the cabin itself are very nice.

Disliked Extremely disappointing stay at Cherry Burton Leisure Park near Beverley. We left after just a couple of hours because the cleanliness standard of the accommodation was completely unacceptable.
The first cabin we were assigned looked as though it hadn't been cleaned at all. To list just a few issues:
* Hygiene & Cleanliness: Loose hair and debris on the furniture, dirty stains on the soft furnishings/cushions, and dark marks on the bed sheets.
* Kitchen Appliances: The fridge/freezer box was coated in filthy, brown frozen residue, and the microwave and kettle were dirty and unwashed.
* General Upkeep: Food crumbs were left on the floor by the bin and skirting boards, and dust/grime had built up on surfaces.
While the staff were understanding and agreed to move us to a replacement cabin, the second unit wasn't much better. Given the poor conditions, we felt completely uncomfortable staying the night and decided to pack up and leave immediately.
To make matters worse, we emailed management right away to express our disappointment and explain why we had to cut our trip short, but we have received zero reply or acknowledgment. Very poor hygiene standards and non-existent customer follow-up we definitely would not recommend.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback. Whilst we accept that the Pod was not cleaned to our normal standards, and apologise for that, you were moved by the Warden to a second Pod which you accepted. The photo's shown above are of the first Pod, which we agree was unacceptable. You emailed Reception at 7pm in the evening, whilst it was closed ! You have received follow-up communication from Reception since this time.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked The oyster bar and entertainment. The large green area adjacent to the park.

Disliked Lack of toilets. The showers & toilets are combined so early morning is a wait for a loo as others are showering when you want a quick loo.
No WiFi. Asked and was told may have this in future.
No information on what’s on offer. Apparently they do pizza/burgers but wasn’t told when checking in. Missed opportunities for the owners. Perhaps a leaflet could be provided.

Local attractions

The historic market town of Beverley is three miles away – feast your eyes on the impressive Beverley Minster, a real gothic masterpiece, or wander to North Bar, a 15th-century brick-built defensive gate. When history class is dismissed, it’s over to the Westwood, a big open space ideal for picnics and post-lunch strolls. Beverley's also known for its racecourse, so a day of watching the gee-gees is an option; non-horsey types might prefer to hit the shops at the Flemingate complex, where there’s also a choice of eats, a cinema and an inflatable theme park. The site is within the Yorkshire Nature Triangle, so wildlife experiences are a must. Wander around Tophill Low Nature Reserve (a 20-minute drive) to spot otters, dragonflies and birds of all shapes and sizes, or visit North Cave Wetlands (25 minutes) – its six lakes and numerous bird hides make it a popular place for twitchers. If that’s up your street, you might want to stop off at Bempton Cliffs reserve (45 minutes), where around half a million seabirds gather between March and October.
