What customers say

Guests describe Old Octon Farm Lodges as a peaceful and relaxing retreat, praising the spotless, well-equipped, and cosy lodges. Hosts Mandy and Dave are consistently highlighted as friendly and accommodating, with many guests appreciating the opportunity for children to interact with the farm animals, particularly the lambs. The location is considered ideal for exploring the Yorkshire coast. While most guests found nothing to dislike, a few minor points were raised regarding the futon in Rivers Lodge and the distance to local shops, which the manager has addressed.

Buttercup lodge

Liked Buttercup's is a cosy, homely lodge in a stunning setting. It has been thoughtfully designed by the owners (Mandy and Dave) to maximise space. For example, the mattress (very comfy) sits on a raised platform - plenty of room for storing your 'stuff' underneath it.

Also, there's a combi boiler, so hot water is available on demand.

All towels were provided. This was a bonus as Pitchup advises you to bring your own.

In the undersink cupboard there's a dishcloth, sponge, washing up liquiid and cleaning products, so again no need to bring your own (there's hand soap in the shower room).

We brought our dog Monty with us. There are some wonderful dog-friendly beaches nearby (particularly Fraisthorpe and Hunmanby Gap).

Dave and Mandy are friendly hosts who are dedicated to ensuring their guests have all they need for a comfortable and relaxing stay.

A box of Maltesers was waiting for us on arrival (as well as tea, coffee, milk, plus other essentials) - a lovely touch, especially as they are my favourite!

Buttercup lodge

Liked EVERYTHING !!
Mandy and Dave have thought of everything. The lodges are set on a small farm with sheep and Bonny the " In training" sheep dog for entertainment. There is everything you'll need within from a fully equipped kitchen to the little extras Mandy has added to make this a delight to stay in. A pint of milk in the fridge, a box of Maltesers and so much more. Its a great place to explore the likes of Scarborough,Whitby and make sure you don't miss out Flamborough Lighthouse.
Thank you for making this such a dlightful stay, your're the perfect hosts

Rivers lodge

Liked Stayed at Rivers Lodge, Old Octon farm Lodges with my son and dog for three nights. The site is excellent and everything you could possibly need is provided. The lodge was clean, tidy and spacious. Comfy beds, kitchen, BBQ, shower and toilet, tv and wifi provided. Couldn't ask for more. Lovely friendly owners. Lots to do in the surrounding area, ideas on where to go provided at the lodge. One bonus of the lodge are the sheep in the field opposite. I would highly recommend this site.

Buttercup lodge

Liked Loved our short family stay. First impressions were the best, bottle of bubbly and steaming hot tub awaited us. Accomodation was spot on and spotless. Our 5 and 10 year old loved the fact it was a working farm, but guess not all would appreciated the early calls of the lambs. We will definitely stay again.

Local attractions

Here in the Yorkshire Wolds there’s plenty of lovely scenery to explore, whether you head out on foot, get on your bike, or take a seat on the Yorkshire Wolds Railway (15 minutes' drive). You may also like to have a stroll around a couple of local stately homes at Sledmere House (10 minutes), which has a farm park and adventure playground, or Burton Agnes Hall (15 minutes), known for its art collection and craft shops. And of course you’ll want to get over to the coast as well – perhaps for days on the beach in Filey or Bridlington (both 20 minutes), a bit of birdwatching at RSPB Bempton Cliffs (25 minutes) or a trip to the gorgeous Robin Hood’s Bay (55 minutes). The beach and open-air theatre make Scarborough (half an hour) worth a visit too. If you’ve got kids to entertain, a tour of Bondville Model Village (20 minutes) should be on the schedule. If, however, it’s an adults-only trip, might you perhaps be interested in a tour and tasting at Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery (15 minutes)?
