  • Small East Yorkshire glamping site on a family farm in Octon
  • Bridlington and Filey beaches 20 minutes' drive away
  • Smart and cosy ensuite log cabins with kitchenette and barbecue area
Head to the East Yorkshire countryside and a little rural retreat on a working farm that’s equally well placed for seaside days and scenic country walks. Old Octon Farm Lodges is a small site in the village of Octon, 20 minutes from the coast at Bridlington and Filey. The surroundings here are all pretty pastures and open skies, so it’s just the location for a relaxing time spent soaking up the fresh air, stargazing and sunset watching. There are several pubs and restaurants in local villages, with more places to eat in Driffield (15 minutes’ drive), which also has a supermarket for supplies to take back to base. Whatever you source in the shops can go into meals prepped inside or outside your lodge – each of the smartly kitted-out log cabins has a kitchenette (with microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, cutlery and crockery provided) and a dining area, plus a barbecue area outside for alfresco eating. The table and chairs on the deck at the front of the lodge are in just the right spot for breakfast in the morning sun too… The lodges have been thoughtfully designed throughout, with central heating, double glazing and insulation to keep everything cosy even on cool nights; each one also has wifi, a Freesat TV and an ensuite bathroom with rainfall shower (most welcome after a long day hiking in the nearby Yorkshire Wolds). These are family-friendly lodges, and dogs are also welcome as long as they are added to your booking in advance and not left in your lodge on their own at any time.

Buttercup lodge

Liked: The lodge was perfect, everything you needed was there. The welcome gift was a fantastic touch even leaving some milk in the fridge. Spotlessly clean. We didn't get to meet 1 half of the hosts Dave as he was busy with his big tractor on other farms however, Mandy was more than the perfect host. We took our 6 year old grandson and she gave so much time to him. Letting him help with feeding the sheep and lambs and also the ducks. We had an amazing time and would definitely recommend. You're close to Bridlington, Hornsea and Scarborough.

Rivers lodge

Liked: Myself and my partner booked this as a last minute weekend away with our dog and so glad we did! The site which the lodges are on is very well looked after and the lodges are beautiful, very clean and had everything you need inside for a weekend away with even a box of chocolates there for our arrival! The owners of the site were very friendly and welcoming, would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a quiet weekend away. An added bonus we even got to see the new lambs they had in the field outside the lodge.

Rivers lodge

Liked: Wow wow wow! This is the best glamping pod we have ever stayed at! It includes absolutely everything you would need, bedding, pots and pans, towels etc They come with a little BBQ area and it even had a hot plate to cook inside if it was cold. The beds are really comfy and the bathroom is spotless! The place itself is beautiful, right next to the sheep field on a working farm what more could you want! The owners have gone above and beyond they left us little chocolates and an Easter card as well as some milk with teas and coffee. Mandy even let the kids go help feed the sheep, something they havnt stopped talking about. The kids didn’t want to come home and neither did I, we will definitely be back!

Buttercup lodge

Liked: Wow! We’ve just had the best week in Buttercup’s lodge on Old Octon farm. Mandy and David are lovely hosts and have made our stay really enjoyable. The girls have loved looking at the tractors and getting to know the sheep. There is also a great play area 15 minutes walk away with assault courses and other playground equipment. The farm is a great location to visit the coast with Filey and Bridlington only 20 minutes drive and Scarborough 30 minutes. The lodge was immaculate, with everything like new and well kept. The tea, coffee, milk, chocolates and sweets were a lovely touch. Hedges separate the lodges keeping them private and Buttercup lodge had an extra seating area to the side with comfy rattan furniture. We will be back!
