Peachey Place Campsite: Good site access

General

  • Grass pitches at a secure, quiet site 10 minutes' drive from Howden
  • York and Hull within a 40-minute drive; 45 minutes to the coast
  • Dog park and rural views on site; easy access from M62

Green views all around and yet splendidly easy to get to from the motorway – that’s the deal at Peachey Place Campsite, in a peach of an East Yorkshire spot that’s handy for the M62 and about 10 minutes’ drive from the market town of Howden.

And that’s not all that’s handy around here – this is a fine location for days of walking, cycling, fishing and horse riding, city days in York or Hull and outings to the likes of the Yorkshire Wildlife Park and Yorkshire Air Museum. For a bit of sea air, you can also set forth to Hornsea (45 minutes’ drive) or up to Bridlington beach (an hour).

Mix up all the outings as you please – back at base you’ll be staying at a quiet, family-friendly site with secure fences and rural views at every turn. Grass pitches are pleasingly flat and provided with all the essential facilities including a washing-up area, showers and toilets (with accessible and parent-friendly facilities). Barbecues and campfires are permitted but please do check with the folk on site before lighting up.

This is a friendly site that welcomes families and dogs – with the latter being provided with their own space to have a bit of a run about in.

Please note

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Reception is unmanned after 5 p.m.. Please inform the site while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time, so that the team can provide information about your unit/pitch.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Please note that the shower facilities are unisex.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.

Bookings must not be for more than 14 consecutive nights.

Group bookings of 6 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

From the manager...

Hi Jin thank you for your positive review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. Thank you for your suggestions and no, you are not being picky at all as we understand that these are important for the convenience of our campers. We are in fact in a process of building 2 more shower rooms and the hot water for the wash up area is also something that we are currently working on. We are continually improving our site so thank you for your suggestions. Thank you for your stay and hope to see you again 😊 ~Peachey Place Campsite~

    Disliked:

Very basic facilities. No hot water for washing up. Unsightly caravan storage backdrop. Children running across other campers putches and off lead dogs wandering wherever they liked. Noise from dogs barking most of the night and children running around with torches, squealing until very late. Had a power cut for 7 hours one of the nights.

From the manager...

Hi Rachel thank you for your honest review. We apologise for the electricity problem. This was an unprecedented and unexpected issue that unfortunately happened during your stay. We did do our best to resolve the problem as quick and best as we could and we are sorry that your stay with us was not up to your satisfaction. We enjoyed our camping trip! Owner was friendly. Had issues with the electrics tripping on the entire site on occasions but nothing too major and were restored fairly quickly following.

The facilities were OK. Could have been cleaner and attended too more by owners to keep on top of better.

Hot water at the sink etc. would improve the facilities.

Overall nice place - and would return if we revisit this area again.

The camp was lovely, the owner graham was very welcoming. Each pitch was clearly marked out with plenty of space for each pitch, the land was relatively flat too, the facility onsite included showers, toilets and pot wash area all of wich was clean and tidy.
Campfires were allowed and we were able to purchase fire wood onsite.

Unfortunately we had to leave early due to little one being unwell so we didnt venture off the camp but the camp is located near a local village with some lovely walking routes and graham was only too happy to tell us about these if we wanted.

We stayed here to make our annual trip to Hull …17/10/2021

We stayed here to make our annual trip to Hull fair into a little weekend get away. Its a lovely little site situated just off the motorway. The owners/staff are super friendly and my 3 year old daughter especially loved kisses and cuddles off Dotty the border collie. This is a new site which only opened this year so is therefore quite basic. Toilet and shower facilities were very clean. The washing up area does not yet have hot water but is being installed for next year. Sink is situated right near the toilet block so nipping into the toilet block to fill a bowl of hot water up for washing up was no issue. The site is situated at the rear of a disused flower nursery which they are also in the process of organising and tidying up. If you prefer clubs and noise then this probably isnt the site for you but if you prefer nature and quite nights by the fire then id definitely reccomend. Thank you for a lovely stay and we wish you all the best for your new venture. We will definitely be back next year when we visit fair (if we can get the time off work).

Local attractions

When you’ve only got time for a short 10-minute drive, that’s not an issue here, as that’ll get you to the 14th-century ruins of a chapter house and Howden Minster (10 minutes’ drive), the adventure playground at William’s Den (10 minutes) or ready and set for some birdwatching at the North Cave Wetlands nature reserve (10 minutes).

Further out, there’s quite a mixed bag too, whether it’s skipping between The Deep aquarium, the transport museum and the Old Town in Hull (35 minutes), catching the park and ride into York (40 minutes) for its minster and fudge delicacies, peeking at the animals in the Yorkshire Wildlife Park (45 minutes) or picking up some air history in the Yorkshire Air Museum (40 minutes).

When you’re craving a little of the beach, that's okay too… there’s jetskiing, canoeing, sailing and windsurfing at Hornsea beach (45 minutes) and at Bridlington beach (an hour), long walks on the shore, fishing if that’s your sort of thing and the Old Town for dessert (literally, if you're counting its splendid eateries).
