  • Well-maintained holiday park set around a 12-acre lake
  • A quarter of an hour's drive from Hornsea beach; Hull 30 minutes
  • On-site restaurant; paddleboard, kayak and pedalo hire
There's a lot you can do when you stay somewhere with a lake. Holidays at such a spot can be as peaceful as they come, or you can opt for a break that's all about sports, outdoor activities and messing about on the water. So it's no surprise that both choices are on the cards at Dacre Lakeside Park, a well-maintained site on the edge of the East Riding village of Brandesburton. The pitches here are set around a spectacular 12-acre lake, which, as well as being scenic, is a hub for all sorts of outdoor antics. With kayak, paddleboard and pedalo hire, this spot caters to a whole range of holidaymakers on the hunt for a pleasant park near the Yorkshire coast. Bert's, Dacre Lakeside Park's on-site restaurant and takeaway, is also close by in a scenic location overlooking the water. Other leisure facilities on offer here include tennis courts, pitch and putt miniature golf and foot golf. The reception building has a bar, table tennis, pool tables and a beauty salon too, all of which are a short walk away from a spacious and secure beer garden. Dacre Lakeside Park is a pet-friendly spot, and dogs are welcome to join you on breaks here throughout the season. Guests bringing a four-legged friend won't be short of places to take them for walks, as this site is a 15-minute drive from Hornsea beach and within easy strolling distance of plenty of paths and trails.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Beautiful site, great facilities and activities. Has disabled toliet with shower. All quite flat for getting around with wheelchair. Lovely park. We had young and older children so activities to entertain both.

Disliked Could have the icecream kiosk open a little later we finished playing football golf in the pouring rain and after getting soaked. we warm up with a coffee and to treat the kids to an icecream in the afternoon but found it closed quite early.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Large spacious pitches,
Lake was great for paddleboarding and kayaks,
Toilets close by,
Lots of activities suitable for families

Disliked Showers were cold in the afternoon,
All of the toilets on the camping field also had showers in them so when people were showering there were no toilets available

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Great site, went with family, the camping field had lots of room for kids to play. Caravan area was a bit more cramped, not really much space for parking cars at pitches, and for some reason some pitches are larger than others. Lake was brilliant we took kayaks & paddle boards with us, both kids and adults enjoyed it. Takeaway 5 mins walk away from site and a shop. Park is good for young kids.
We only did a weekend but I’m sure if there longer and kids are a bit older could do crazy golf, foot golf, padel etc. Showers early morning nice and hot, if go at busy times 5pm ish then showers were cold. Don’t bother paying the £10 for the others showers as they are exact same. Had a live singer in the bar Saturday night. Can get 5G signal so can use your phones. We will definitely go again.

Disliked Maybe just that the pitches are a bit cramped caravan / awning / car / caravan / awning / car with no gaps.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked What is there not to like!!!
Very nice, large, flat camping field.
Extra large pitches.
Lots to do on site (paddleboarding, canoeing, adventure golf, pitch and putt, football golf, pool, snooker, entertainment in the clubhouse) plus an Italian restaurant and icecream bar.
Everything on site very reasonably priced especially the drinks in the club house.
Entertainment in club house was great.
Staff friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome.
Nice holiday feeling to the site.
Supermarkets a short drive away.
Hornsea beach a short drive away.

If you see bad reviews about the toilets/showers on the camping field, please read this and don't let them put you off....those toilets are cleaned and fully mopped out several times a day by staff. We personally saw staff cleaning them regularly. If you go in and find a mess, that's only down to mud being trodden in from the field (nothing you can do about that) or people leaving them in a mess. Its really not fair to blame the staff who try so hard to keep on top of them.
A mop and bucket is in each toilet/shower plus a bin. If everyone put their rubbish in the bin and mopped up after their shower there would be nothing to complain about!!!
Also, some reviewers are saying the showers are cold. However, we had lovely hot showers several times over our 5 night stay. We simply put the shower on full heat and ran the water for a few minutes. Admittedly it took about 3 minutes for the hot to come through but when it did, it was HOT! We ended up turning it down it was that hot!
This campsite is brilliant for couples or families. You definitely won't be bored!!!

Disliked Nothing to dislike. This place is great x

Liked The bar was nice area to play cards in when it was wet
The lake was great for paddleboarding
Berts Pizzeria was great
Big camp field with plenty of space

Disliked key codes for the toilets - as can't see the numbers at night to press the right ones!
Could do with a small shop onsite for bread, milk, freezing ice packs

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Lovely big field ... The water activities and on site bar are fab and Bert's pizzeria restaurant is gorgeous, had a lovely meal! Lots of fun had on the lake in a Kayak, unfortunately the weather meant we couldn't try the footgolf out

Disliked Camping field is full of rabbit holes, not great whilst getting to the loo in the dark! EHU option would have been nice. Tent next door had 2 dogs that yapped, howled and barked constantly without coming up for air!! Obvs this isn't the fault of the site

Local attractions

If, after trying all the sporty facilities on site, you still haven't had your fill of outdoor life, you might like to spend a few hours on the greens at Hainsworth Park Golf Club (five minutes' walk), an attractive parkland course where there are 18 holes to play with. A little further afield, you can let the coast at Hornsea (15 minutes) and Bridlington (25 minutes) provide you with bucket and spade days, or head to The Deep (30 minutes), a huge aquarium in the centre of Hull, to find out what's swimming beneath the surface… It takes about an hour to get there, but the spectacular Spurn Heritage Coast – affectionately known as ‘Yorkshire's very own Land's End’ – is also well worth visiting for its birdlife and rugged seascapes. Dacre Lakeside Park is a well-connected place, so you can easily get out on day trips to handsome historic sites like the centre of York (an hour) or Castle Howard (an hour), one of the North's grandest stately homes.
