  • Well-maintained holiday park set around a 12-acre lake
  • A quarter of an hour's drive from Hornsea beach; Hull 30 minutes
  • On-site restaurant; paddleboard, kayak and pedalo hire
There's a lot you can do when you stay somewhere with a lake. Holidays at such a spot can be as peaceful as they come, or you can opt for a break that's all about sports, outdoor activities and messing about on the water. So it's no surprise that both choices are on the cards at Dacre Lakeside Park, a well-maintained site on the edge of the East Riding village of Brandesburton. The pitches here are set around a spectacular 12-acre lake, which, as well as being scenic, is a hub for all sorts of outdoor antics. With kayak, paddleboard and pedalo hire, this spot caters to a whole range of holidaymakers on the hunt for a pleasant park near the Yorkshire coast. Bert's, Dacre Lakeside Park's on-site restaurant and takeaway, is also close by in a scenic location overlooking the water. Other leisure facilities on offer here include tennis courts, pitch and putt miniature golf and foot golf. The reception building has a bar, table tennis, pool tables and a beauty salon too, all of which are a short walk away from a spacious and secure beer garden. Dacre Lakeside Park is a pet-friendly spot, and dogs are welcome to join you on breaks here throughout the season. Guests bringing a four-legged friend won't be short of places to take them for walks, as this site is a 15-minute drive from Hornsea beach and within easy strolling distance of plenty of paths and trails.

What customers say

This is a popular, well-maintained site with spacious pitches and a beautiful lake offering water sports. Visitors praise the friendly staff, excellent on-site restaurant, and the abundance of activities for families and children. While most reviews highlight a positive experience, some note issues with shower cleanliness and temperature, noise from the bar, and a general lack of enforcement of site rules. The touring section is noted by some as being run down.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked First time for us staying here and I thought it was absolutely great. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming when checking in and The camping field was big with plenty of room between pitches. It is not a far walk to the toilets/shower cubicles which are on the camping field and were reasonably clean depending on the time of day.
There was plenty to do for the kids on site and a good park too, but The lake was the highlight for us, especially as we could launch our own paddle boards/kayak for a small price. This made our weekend away and we spent most of our time here.
We ate in Bert’s pizzeria which I highly recommend. The staff are super friendly and the food was delicious. We didn’t go into the bar but it sounded like people were having a great time and we enjoyed listening to the music from our camping field.
This is somewhere we would definitely return to.

Disliked The only thing that is missing from this site is a shop that sells basics such as bread/milk. There is a shop 10 minutes away but we didn’t know this when we arrived.
No dislikes from us.

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Fantastic site, way better than I expected when I booked it. Very pleasant suprise when we turned up. The reception staff (Teresa) was very friendly and helpful. Great lake for kayaking/paddleboarding. The crazy golf is a good one. Our new favourite site. It's just a shame they are doing away with the touring pitches :-( so probably our first and last trip here.
There was also a private party on the Friday and non of the activities/restaurant/ice-cream bar were available to guests which I found really disappointing, having not been informed of such (or reflected on the price when booking) so I've had to knock my rating down to reflect that. (They'll have made a fortune from the party so won't be too bothered about my rating)
Overall very happy here and would love to visit again but may not get the opportunity to do so.

Disliked Closing all activities for private party.
The fact they are getting rid of motorhome pitches

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Really liked the lake, pizzeria, the atmosphere was really good. Close to the village shop and pub. Staff were friendly.

Disliked You can tell they have put alot of money into the new development but really need to keep maintaining the hardstanding pitches. Its tired, loads of rabbit holes, wasp nest, a bit dull apart from the view. no one policing it on an evening. Lake could do with some maintenance with the amount of algae and sometimes their was a very pungent smell.

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Everything!
Lovely peaceful sight. We had a tentbox on the hardstanding pitches. Showers could be hit and miss but we worked out which shower was the best and only used that one.
All the staff are really friendly. Nice little clubhouse. Plenty of activities to do for the kids. Kayaking on the lake. Foot golf and crazy golf. Theres also tennis on site.

Walk into town was just short of 10mins away. They have 2 pubs, 2 shops, chippy and a takeaway. Theres also Berts Pizzas on site.

Disliked If showers where updated... but I believe they are getting rid of the touring next year so I can understand no money being spent on the shower block.

Liked Lovely park, we had a great stay thanks you. The lake and water sports were awesome, very reasonably priced too. Also had a great pub and restaurant too.

Disliked The option of an electric hook up tent pitch would be great. The WiFi was also very poor and only seemed to work near reception.

Local attractions

If, after trying all the sporty facilities on site, you still haven't had your fill of outdoor life, you might like to spend a few hours on the greens at Hainsworth Park Golf Club (five minutes' walk), an attractive parkland course where there are 18 holes to play with. A little further afield, you can let the coast at Hornsea (15 minutes) and Bridlington (25 minutes) provide you with bucket and spade days, or head to The Deep (30 minutes), a huge aquarium in the centre of Hull, to find out what's swimming beneath the surface… It takes about an hour to get there, but the spectacular Spurn Heritage Coast – affectionately known as ‘Yorkshire's very own Land's End’ – is also well worth visiting for its birdlife and rugged seascapes. Dacre Lakeside Park is a well-connected place, so you can easily get out on day trips to handsome historic sites like the centre of York (an hour) or Castle Howard (an hour), one of the North's grandest stately homes.
