High Farm Holiday Park

Liked Lovely site with great views. Excellent shower block. Very clean.. Loved the café and animal sanctuary on site. Staff on site were brilliant and so helpful.

Liked The owners were so lovely and helpful. So much effort had been taken to ensure our stay in the railway carriage was as comfortable as possible. So clean with everything we could possibly need and lots of goodies in the fridge! Very well maintained site and sooo peaceful with fabulous views. Excellent cafe on site .

Liked Our first over night experience with our motorhome. Absolutey fabulous. The cafe/bar provided everything we could ask for. Drinks and food. Staff were brilliant. Showers and toilet blocks were clean and warm. The surrounding area was beautiful with lovely walks. We came back after two days feeling relaxed and revived. Would recommend to anyone. Beautiful. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

Liked The views were incredible and it was a nice peaceful location. The staff were excellent and genuinely cared to make our stay pleasant. The park with was great for our kids, they could even see all the animals from the playground equipment which kept them entertained. The onsite pub/restaurant had everything you would need for a good campsite. We could sit and have food and drink together whilst the kids were still in view. It was our first time away in our touring caravan and the welcome we received along with the help of we had any issues was incredible. Will definitely be returning again. 10/10*****👍🏼

Liked The location , it was easy to get to bigger towns from here, although Auckland Castle was great.
All the staff were very pleasant and the petting park was fantastic, must bring the Granddaughter next time.

Liked Had a lovely stay. The hut was clean and comfortable and the view was amazing. It had everything you need. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and I would definitely stay again.

Liked The lovely welcome and taken to pitch .The site well looked after. On site shower etc block execellent well maintained. On site bar / restaurant ( open for breakfast and lunch, afternoon tea etc. ) and play area, farm animals peting area. Good dog walking area. Good lighting at night.

Disliked No dislikes but for us a bit remote. Local bars a bit far to walk to exept one, but not aways open . also some bars not dog friendly.
The on site bar is only open Friday & Saturday evenings

Liked Very spacious and enjoyed some beautiful weather couldn’t have picked a better week. The children loved the animals

Disliked On our visit we had temps of around 34 degrees so I had taken water toys to keep my child cool as she has epilepsy and this is very important for her to do so. I was told not to use the water tap as it affects the cafe usage. I felt very disappointed with this as no where in the terms and conditions did they state there was a water shortage. Also we decided to visit as a group of mothers with our children, 6 parents in total with children of different ages so we played games to help entertain them we were approached by Jackie and told we had to stop and keep the noise down at 9.10 the fact it’s also stated that noise to be reduced at 10 was again a little unfair as it had not yet reached this time. Maybe should be added as an adults only sight as I feel children couldn’t be themselves

We would, however, like to clarify a few points for anyone reading this review.

Your stay took place during a period of exceptionally high temperatures and very dry conditions. At the time, government water use restrictions were already in place in some parts of the UK, although they had not yet been introduced in our area. The issue was not children simply playing with water. The tap was being left running continuously to fill a slip and slide, and this was affecting the water supply across our site. We therefore had to intervene to protect the water supply for all of our facilities and guests.

Regarding the evening, our quiet period begins at 10pm, but this does not mean that excessive noise is acceptable until 10pm. We are a genuinely quiet site, which is clearly communicated in our pre arrival information, and many of our guests choose us specifically for the peaceful environment.

You were approached at around 9.30pm because the noise had become excessive. It was already dark and the activity had moved beyond normal children's play, with team games involving adults, adults shouting excitedly and encouraging the children to continue. We had families with young children staying on site who were settling down for the evening.

This was not simply our perception of the noise. A neighbour in a property across the road contacted us because they were concerned about the level of noise, and we have a recording taken from outside our cafe which demonstrates the level of noise coming from the group.

You were approached politely and asked to reduce the noise. We were not asking your children not to enjoy themselves; we were asking that the overall noise level was brought back in line with the peaceful environment we advertise.

In four years of operating the site, we have never previously had a neighbour contact us with a complaint about guest noise. We are proud to welcome families and children, but being family friendly also means being considerate of other guests and our neighbours.

It is clear from your review that our approach to water use and noise was not what you were looking for. We are a small, family run, peaceful site, and we appreciate that this style of holiday park will not suit everyone. We are proud of the environment we have created for families who value a quieter camping experience and consideration for other guests and our neighbours.

Liked Very spacious and clean site. Good play park and children loved the animals

Disliked This site is advertised as a family friendly site however this was not the case on our stay.

We visited as a group of mothers with children of varying ages, expecting a relaxed, family-friendly camping experience. However, despite the temperature reaching 34°C, we were told that the children were not allowed to use the water. ( we had a few water toys, balloons and a small bucket) This was particularly concerning as one of the children in our group has epilepsy and needs to have her temperature carefully regulated. In weather this hot, we found the restriction very difficult to understand, particularly on a site advertised as being family friendly. We have never had this problem over the summer months and any other sites.

The experience became even more disappointing in the evening. At around 9:10pm, we were approached and told that the children needed to stop playing and reduce the noise. We completely understand the need to respect other campers and would have been more than happy to keep the noise down when the stated quiet period began at 10pm. However, being approached before this time, when the children were simply playing together and the noise levels were not excessive, made us feel as though we were being singled out.

As a group of mothers with children of different ages, we expected the campsite to accommodate families and normal children’s play, particularly before the advertised quiet time. Instead, we felt increasingly restricted and as though we had to constantly worry about being approached or told off.

Sadly, the overall experience did not feel family friendly at all. We left feeling uncomfortable, unwelcome and disappointed, especially given what we expected from a campsite marketed towards families.

We appreciate that campsites need rules and consideration for other guests, but there needs to be a reasonable balance between maintaining peace and allowing families and children to actually enjoy their holiday. Unfortunately, we did not feel that balance was achieved during our stay.
