  • Family-friendly glamping site with a 10-acre meadow in rural Norfolk
  • Half an hour’s drive to Thetford Forest Park; 50 minutes to the coast
  • Self-contained kitchen; watersports or bike hire available; small shop
Stargazing, alfresco dining and bat walking are just some of the ways to pass the evening at Wild Norfolk, a family-friendly site in rural Norfolk near Cranworth. Whether you’re new to this territory or already a fan of Norfolk, this glamping site is well-situated for activities for all the ages, as it’s half an hour’s drive from Thetford Forest Park, 50 minutes from the coast and under half an hour from the nearest family-friendly attraction. There are a few ways to catapult into the action… the site hires out kayaks, paddleboards and bicycles and runs foraging and shampoo or body butter making activities. For something a little spookier, bat walks could also be on agenda. With all those activities, you won’t have to worry too much about your energy running low, as the site has a small honesty shop and there’s a basic kitchen with the classics like tea, coffee and sugar. For those of you planning on making the most of the firepit or your own barbecue, there's an outdoor alfresco dining area too. How about those places for letting your hair down? Well, there’s a cosy lounge, porch with a hammock and a private bathroom with a hot shower and flushing toilet to begin with. For some added luxury, there’s a see-through ceiling for stargazing, a logburning stove, homemade toiletries and a large ice box with fresh ice packs. This area is countryside and market towns galore, of course, but local villages and the nearest pubs are only a few miles away (five minutes’ drive) too.

Local attractions

To go to a Georgian town or straight to the ocean? You won’t have to miss out on either from here, as historic Holt (50 minutes’ drive), is a stop along the way to the Norfolk coast with antiques, galleries and eateries surrounded by Georgian architecture… quite the place for a brew or lunch out. When it comes to those seaside spots, there’s quite a choice too. Perhaps ball games on the beach in Wells-next-the-Sea (55 minutes)? Crabbing in Cromer (an hour and five minutes)? Or rockpool rummaging on Sheringham beach (an hour and five minutes)? Thankfully, those of you who have the children in tow won’t have too far to go for a family-friendly day out, whether that’s all the excitement of the city in Norwich (35 minutes) or the Pettitts Animal Adventure Park (50 minutes) for animals from around the globe. For somewhere that will bring out their wild side too, BeWILDerwood Norfolk (50 minutes) is themed around a treehouse adventure and Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure (25 minutes) has dino trails and play areas, along with a treetop obstacle course.
