  • Small, secluded back-to-basics farm site with a nature pond
  • A 10-minute drive from Halesworth; 20 minutes from Southwold
  • Play area and shared fridge freezer; friendly pub five minutes’ walk
Sunnyside Campsite is a peaceful one-acre site with spacious grassy pitches surrounded by ash trees and hawthorn bushes. This small-scale meadow is also easily accessible by public transport – Brampton station is a 10-minute cycle or 30-minute walk from base. This fab farm site has a nature pond, kids' play area and a tumbledown old stable that houses the spick and span toilets and water point. Other handy facilities here include a washing-up point and use of a shared fridge freezer. Campfires and barbecues are allowed (as long as they're raised off the ground). Firepits are available to hire on site, and logs and charcoal can also be bought from the little honesty shop. Fish suppers are on the cards on Thursdays, when fresh local seafood is sold from a visiting van. Sunnyside Campsite is in a prime location for cyclists, who can set out on long or short-distance pedals along National Cycle Route 1 that passes at the end of the lane. Walkers and folk who like messing around in boats also have lots of options here – the Suffolk coastline can be reached in under 20 minutes' drive, while the Norfolk Broads are under a half hour away. The site is a few minutes' stroll from a friendly community pub and a village play area. Cafés, restaurants and a larger supermarket are all in Halesworth (10 minutes' drive).

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Lovely and peaceful, rustic and homely. Lovely touches in the toilet and shower with fresh flowers and kept lovely and clean.
Homemade cake made every week for purchase which is a great touch.
Mini store for basic items.
Lots of great dog walks from the site and a friendly community pub just 10 min walk.

Disliked We visited in cooler weather so the shower room was a bit nippy (as it was located in a small barn style outbuilding with concrete floor). However in summer months it would be absolutely fine.
Maybe the addition of some kind of little blow heater for cooler times would be fab but it really didn’t take away from our overall experience. I just need to toughen up😂!

From the manager: Thanks for being our last guests of the season! We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay!

The shower room does have underfloor heating to help dry out the floor, but it can struggle in cooler temperatures. We are glad this didn’t take away from your overall experience! (I’ve made a note of a blow heater for future use) 👍

It would be great to see you again - a bit earlier in the season when the weather is warmer hopefully!

Kind regards,
Sally & Richard 🌞

Liked This is our favourite campsite. Small, peaceful, spacious, natural. Basic but adequate facilities. We liked the flowers in the loos! Store room with food available for sale + fridge and freezer, power points, kettle, etc, is excellent. This is our second visit and we will be back.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Sunny Side this weekend in our campervan and loved every minute of it. It’s a beautifully thought-out small campsite in a wonderfully peaceful and quiet location.

The host was lovely, friendly and welcoming, and the delicious homemade cake was a particularly lovely touch! We really enjoyed the natural, wild feel of the site, with the chickens happily roaming around adding to its charm.

A fantastic little campsite that we would highly recommend. We will definitely be staying again!

Local attractions

The sandy beach at Southwold (20 minutes) is dominated by the white bulk of the 19th-century Southwold Lighthouse and lined by colourful wooden huts. Stroll along the long pier, stopping for ice cream or fish and chips, then head into town and the Southwold Museum for a primer on local history. With their reed-lined ponds and shallow lagoons, the marshes of RSPB Minsmere (30 minutes) are home to avocets, curlews and marsh harriers – plus the occasional (but elusive) otter. Just up the coast from there, National Trust - Dunwich Heath and Beach becomes a colourful riot of purple heather in the summer. The tall spire of the cathedral in Norwich (45 minutes) is visible from far and wide. Explore the interior of this splendid 11th-century church, strolling through the cloisters and the choir, where (if you’re lucky) you might meet Budge, the cathedral cat. The Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell explores the history of the area.
