Pitches

  • Grass pitches at an adults-only Suffolk holiday park near Saxmundham
  • A 20-minute drive to Aldeburgh beach; 25 minutes to Orford Castle
  • Entertainment, fishing, a pool and fitness suite on site
Occupying a quiet corner of a Suffolk holiday park 10 minutes' drive from Saxmundham, the spacious grass pitches at the adults-only Lonely Farm provide peace by the bucketload as well as all the advantages of the park’s facilities. And what facilities they are: with not one but two fishing lakes on site, this is a splendid spot for keen anglers, and there’s plenty more to lure you in too. On high-season weekends (March to October), you’ll be kept entertained by free activities and events, and when the weather is behaving, you can get out on the tennis court. Keep up your exercise regime (if you must) in the fitness suite, or swim a few laps of the heated indoor pool. If you prefer more sedate pursuits, you can simply have a wander along the park’s woodland walk. Guests staying on the pitches at Lonely Farm also have access to electric hook-ups, shower and toilet blocks, waste disposal points and fresh water points.

What customers say

A peaceful, adult-only campsite offering spacious pitches and value for money. Guests appreciate the quiet location and many enjoyed the bonus of using facilities at the adjacent holiday park. While the setting and natural surroundings are praised, some visitors noted the facilities are dated and could benefit from modernisation. Check-in can occasionally be disorganised.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked The pitch we was given in the end was what I would of expected for the size tent we had

Disliked When we turned up the pitch number was already taken by another tent .The electric socket was broken and the the pitch would not of been big enough.I went back to the main site where I was told to go to a caravan pitch this was also being used I went back to main site and manager came over and put us on a empty caravan pitch was not a good start to break. And some other people seemed to have same problem with caravan pitches it was not very organised seemingly on Lonely Farm

Electric grass touring caravan pitch

Liked Location

Disliked Poor quality toilets and showers, we have been told this site is closing October for good hence why the facilities have drastically gone downhill, it would appear the main Carlton Meres site will be bulldozing the buildings in readiness to expand their static caravans, such a shame as we were frequent users of Lonely Farm, think it’s got something to do with Sizewell C workers being accommodated

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Peaceful, easy access, close to toilets and showers.

Disliked Toilets acceptable but showers in need of update and water pressure in the one I used.
Cost via Pitchup was expensive in my opinion for outdated shower block.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked Great pitch. Only 5 pitches on the site. Very quiet.

However, it's going to close soon we were told . That's why everything is run down and old . The shower bock and toilets not very desirable but clean..

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Great little quit site, where else can you have a quiet adult only pitch with the use of great facilities on your doorstep. I know a lot of people rubbish the facilities, dated I know but more than adequate, all like they used to be before getting super posh with heated floor showers etc, traditional old style camp site. Staff not there when you arrive but pitch number on the notice board, when they came round later very helpful, the lady went and got our passes for us to use all the facilities as a bit of a walk, about 10 minute stroll, or you can drive. Fantastic dog walking on well kept countryside pathways, you could walk for miles in beautiful British countryside with all the wild life it offers, had a great stay. The motorhome hard standings were paved vehicle runway with nice grass either side, no horrible stones, also of great size, parked a car alongside and still loads of room, water close at hand so filled up the tank with a hose.

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Lovely old fashioned campsite, peaceful and back to nature. This is not a new campsite and has a charm of its own. Great dog walks and not to far to the nearest pub.

Disliked Just need cleaner facilities to bring up to modern standards but it would loose its charm.

Local attractions

For days at the beach, take to the coast at Aldeburgh (20 minutes’ drive) and treat yourself to fish and chips, or head to cute little Southwold (25 minutes) for retro amusements at the Under the Pier Show on the pier. From there, hop on the ferry across the River Blyth to Walberswick (25 minutes) for a drink in the pub or to spot wading birds among its heathlands and marshes. Other day trips that should bring a smile to your faces include all the animal encounters at Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park (40 minutes), Banham Zoological Gardens (an hour) for its penguins and sea lions, or the truck safaris across the savannah at Africa Alive Zoological Reserve (half an hour). Pleasurewood Hills Family Theme Park (45 minutes) is another good bet, with water rides and rollercoasters galore. Mix things up a bit by introducing some history into your lives: at Framlingham Castle (15 minutes) you can walk the defence walls, and at Orford Castle (25 minutes) there are displays of local Roman finds and audio tours of the castle’s tangle of passageways.
