Gold or silver? Take your pick from the royally kitted-out static caravans at Beach Farm Park in Pakefield. If you have a mini palace of your own, bring your caravan or tourer to this well-manicured site.
This park knows how to make a holiday totally carefree: six acres of green, flat land including well-laid out hardstanding pitches, and all within a stone’s throw of the beach. The hardstanding pitches come with access to an exclusive shower facility, while all guests can jump into the on-site heated outdoor pool (open when the weather allows) with surrounding picnic tables, parasols and sun loungers. The Castle Bar complete with pool table and dance floor (opening times vary), and beer garden with play area to keep the kids happy while you kick back, mean that you needn't even leave the site to find plenty to entertain everyone.
But as Beach Farm is on Suffolk’s Heritage Coast, we’re sure the sea and sand will be beckoning you to the beach on more than a few occasions. This suntrap of a spot enjoys hundreds of hours of sunshine a year, so pack the bucket and spade (and the factor 50) and set up camp on one of the area’s award-winning beaches to make the most of it while you're here.
Once back at base, the outdoor accommodation at Beach Farm Park is fit for a king. The Silver and Gold static homes showcase their own private verandahs with outdoor furniture (for dining at its best-o: alfresco) and comfy twin and double rooms which come with bedding. The lounge with TV and Freeview, private shower room, heating, double glazing and fully-fitted kitchen with microwave and oven mean you needn’t lug anything but yourself from your carriage to the front door (although parking is available next to your abode, in case you did pack the kitchen sink).

Local attractions
Bordering Suffolk and Norfolk, Pakefield, on the clifftops just two miles from Lowestoft, is close to the Broads National Park and Fritton Lake, perfect for getting out on your wheels for bike rides, pulling on your comfies to enjoy walks for all levels, or even getting active with boating, kayaking, archery, orienteering or bushcraft activities (the list goes on).
Celeb spotters can take to Pakefield for a guided ‘celebrity walk’ - highlighting Pakefield’s most noteworthy residents; the Seagull Theatre and Ferini Gallery, which will entertain artsy types; and as a family holiday wouldn’t be complete without some lighthearted competition, bowling and roller skating is also on offer.
The fishing village of Kessingland - popular with archaeologists who flock here to forage on the beach where an ancient forest used to lie - is just two and half miles south and ideal for avid historians. The restaurants serve some fintastic fish dishes too - we’re not even squidding. Still hankering for more history? The historic market towns of Beccles (20 minutes by car), Bungay, and the Roman settlement of Halesworth (both around half an hour away), offer a farmers’ market, the ruins of Bigod’s Castle, and a medieval church with a 44-acre Millennium Green respectively.
Kids in tow? Then it is with pleasure that we inform you that Pleasurewood Hills, packed with rides and attractions, is just six miles north, while young explorers will be purring with delight at a day out at Africa Alive (a walking safari set in 100 acres with giraffes, chimps and cheetahs) just two miles away. Can’t decide between the two? Pettits Animal Adventure Park (an hour’s drive) has entertainment, rides, and plenty of animals and birds to please even the pickiest little holidaymaker.
Aside from the sandy beach and famous pier at Great Yarmouth (just 13 miles north), the town offers other all-year-round attractions including crazy golf, award-winning museums and a seaside race track. Tearooms, cafés, pubs and restaurants are in abundance, while for an evening with a real bang, Yarmouth Stadium has greyhound or stock car racing - just a few reasons why they call this place ‘great’...
