  • Community-minded people running a campsite attached to their pub.
  • We source everything from as small an area as possible
  • Most of the team are volunteers
We are opened The Cross Keys in July 2023 as the result of a Facebook page we created, called Joinavision, because we wanted to create a kinder, brighter society. We felt the world had become quite divided and people weren’t connecting with others as much as they used to. The pub has become an integral part of all of our lives as we see how important these spaces are for their community. You won’t find mainstream brands here as we only source our products from companies we believe in. All our food is either brought direct from local, regenerative farmers or from local companies who care about where they buy their food from too and who share the same ethos as us (supporting local where possible). Most of our team are volunteers who all feel passionately about creating a kinder, brighter society as well as trying to make the pub and campsite a sustainable business where we not only survive but thrive too. We have an acre of land, some of which is our campsite. The campsite is fenced off so people can access the pub and pub garden without going onto the car park. We have lots of wildlife and wild-flowers in our meadow – in April the wild cowslips cover the meadow and in May we have a lot of self-heal. The pub is on a relatively country road but during rush hour it can be busy as it’s a direct road into Ipswich. There’s lots to do in the local area but we see that people coming to our campsite will want to experience the pub and everything that goes in within it. Anyone is welcome to come and chat to us, offer tips, suggestions and even get involved if they would like to. We have toilets but no showers as we are a very new business. Over time I’m sure we will be adding a shower block. The pub is open Thurs-Sat for lunch and dinner and Sunday brunch but closed the rest of the week for various groups and classes. Hopefully we will see you soon!

Local attractions

Ipswich has two amazing parks - Christchurch and Chantry park. There's also Christchurch Mansion which is free to get into and very interesting to learn about the history of the town. Felixstowe is 35 minutes away and a seaside town that hasn't changed much in 50 years - you've got a rides, a great beach, amusements and plenty to see and do in the local town where over 50% of shops are independent. Southwold, Aldeburgh and Walberswick are about 50mins-1hr away but all doable for a day trip out. We have plenty of nice rural places to visit too - the lovely market town of Woodbridge is only 20 minutes away with a lovely river walk.
