Charming owners, clean and comfortable facilities…
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Charming owners, clean and comfortable facilities and a beautiful location. Will be back! Also couldn’t be better placed: Star in Wenhaston and White Hart in Blythburgh both walkable; Southwold, Walberswick and Dunwich short drives away for fish and chips, swimming etc. For anyone who doesn’t know the area - Wenhaston was the stamping ground of the revered Suffolk artist Harry Becker, and he depicted it beautifully. Worth looking him up before your trip!

A relaxed and quiet site but the facilities let it down!
Leghorn the bell tent
Liked The quietness of the site, the tent itself and its position near a tree, the furniture within the tent and the ease of use.
Loved the communal fridge available and the honesty shed. Lovely beers!
Disliked The positioning of the furniture within the tent: it all sloped towards the back so we slept the wrong way round on the bed to prevent the blood rushing to our heads but the children all ended up rolling off of their beds and onto the floor.
The showers and toilet facilities: the toilets were clean but there is only two. The shower worked but stank!! It made us gag and completely put us off even having a shower! The sink for hand washing and teeth brushing needed a shelf to put things on.
The washing up facilities: there was no hot water! None available at all which isn’t hygienic and makes for a difficult time washing bolognaise from pans and dishes.
The charging spot: only one plug socket available. Really needed an extension lead for the amount of people needing to charge their power banks!

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave detailed feedback. We appreciate you highlighting the areas you felt could be improved.
We were surprised to hear your comments regarding the beds and the slope of the tent. The tent has been set up in its current configuration for some time and we have not previously had any issues raised regarding the beds or guests rolling off them. We have also personally tested the setup with our own two children without any problems.
Regarding the sink, there is a table positioned directly next to it which is intended to provide space for toiletries and other items.
We’re pleased that you found the toilets clean. As a small wild campsite, our facilities are intentionally limited and basic, with two toilets and simple shower and washing-up facilities. The shower is checked as part of our regularly, and we will investigate the smell you experienced.
Hot water is not provided directly at the washing-up area as part of our current wild-camping setup. However, a kettle is provided for guests to heat water when needed, including for washing dishes. We appreciate that this may not be as convenient as having a hot-water supply directly at the sink.
Regarding charging, there is a socket provided for guests to use, as well as a second socket in the same area which was available should additional charging capacity have been needed. We’re sorry if the additional socket wasn’t obvious during your stay. We understand that larger groups may require several devices to be charged at once, but the facilities provided are intended to reflect the simple, wild-camping nature of the site.
Thank you again for your feedback. We’ll take the points raised into consideration while continuing to maintain the simple, back-to-nature character of our campsite.

Liked Really welcoming and friendly hosts, fantastic clean facilities, everything you need is there plus a little honesty shop as well if you've forgotten anything! Fantastic location with plenty of walks direct from the site and the pub is walking distance too. Definitely recommend the site and will be back again soon!

Slow paced, friendly and laid back - a wonderful place to camp out.
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked So much to like here:
The lovely greenery, the horses that chomp lazily in the field next door, the hens that have been rescued by the hosts that I said "hello gals" to as I walked past each and every time.
Had a fantastic night stay at The Roost and had a wonderful reception from the hosts - so thank you for your warm welcome and departure.
Love the honesty fridge (had myself a couple of the Southwold ales - nice and cold!) and just found the whole atmosphere so calm and slow; just how I like it.
Disliked If I'm being picky, probably the walk from where you park your car to the field where you can choose your pitch.
I was lucky as I arrived very early (earliest check in), and got myself prime location quite close to the grassy ramp that leads back to the facilities and parking area. But - please consider that you will have to cart your gear (in a provided wheelbarrow mind) to and from your vehicle. And that's being really picky, as I do love a Park 'N' Pitch generally.

Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Nice place, friendly owner. For reference, it is a hilly field. This might affect some visitors. There is a nearby pub, the Star Room, Worth a visit, but if there's a band on, they don't have food. We choose this site because it's near to the Thorrington Theatre.
