  • Small Suffolk site 10 minutes' drive from Halesworth, for CAMC members
  • Beccles, Southwold and RSPB Minsmere within a half-hour drive
  • Adults-only site with dog walk and good facilities for cyclists
You’ll be stepping into Suffolk history when you stay at Nut Walk Certified Location – this small site (for Caravan and Motorhome Club members only) is part of the grounds of Moat House Farm, in an area so old it’s mentioned in the Domesday Book. The long house at the centre of the farm dates was built in 1530 but the moat is thought to date back to the 10th century. It’s all rather attractive too, and the three-acre private garden can be opened up for visits on request. It’s all very peaceful here, with just a handful of pitches for adults only (although dogs are also welcome). The site is securely fenced and gated, and you’ll park up on well-kept fully serviced hardstanding pitches looking out over fields and hedges. Facilities include a drinking water supply, a bathroom (with toilet, shower and sink), a gated dog walk area and a picnic area with tables overlooking the reed-filled pond. Those who like to explore on two wheels are particularly well catered for here – the site is accessed via a quiet road that forms part of Cycle Route 1, and there’s a bike repair/storage shed to keep your bikes in good order. The site is about 10 minutes’ drive from Halesworth and surrounded by farmland that’s owned by the Tynholm Estate and criss-crossed by plenty of footpaths and cycle routes. The local pub (the community-owned Racehorse Inn) is about a mile’s walk away and serves meals and snacks. Back on site, barbecues are allowed, with low-level lighting provided to help you find your way around in the evenings while also preserving the area’s dark skies for stargazing.
