What customers say

This well-maintained site offers spacious, clean pitches with electric and water, alongside well-kept glamping pods and huts. Guests consistently praise the friendly staff, the well-stocked on-site shop, and the peaceful surroundings featuring donkeys and nature trails. The location is convenient for exploring Southwold and the coast. Some visitors noted that the shower/toilet facilities, while clean, could be more numerous during peak times, and a few mentioned mattress comfort in certain accommodations.

Liked Friendly staff. Shop well stocked. Nice surroundings - donkeys, lake and woodland.

Disliked Pitch sloped in both directions so difficult to level. Narrow lane to site.

Fully-serviced grass pitch

Liked Great location for walking, cycling and taking the bus to Southwold. After the weekend the site was lovely and quiet. Shop was very well stocked and extremely friendly staff and customers for that matter.

Disliked As the website suggests the shower block is warm……but one male shower, one toilet and one urinal for campers, shepherd huts and motorhomes and caravans….really. You need to invest some more.

Local attractions

After all the walking, cycling, horse riding and golfing, get stuck into the area's history at the 12th-century fortress of Framlingham Castle, half an hour's drive away. Once the refuge of Mary Tudor, this fab place now has exhibitions, themed trails and an audio tour covering its centuries of history: enough to keep young Horrible Histories fans entertained too. Arty sorts will know that Suffolk is Constable country: if this is you, come armed with camera or paintbox to snap and sketch the countryside, harbour and coastal views around the area. You could also take a trip to art complex the Snape Maltings on the Alde river, for events, activities and evening entertainment in the concert hall. Seaside? But of course. Have a stroll around Southwold and its colourful beach huts, or drive half an hour north to Lowestoft for seaside amusements and Pleasurewood Hills, a nifty tucked away theme park with rollercoasters and attractions for all. Walberswick beach, around a 15-minute drive from Heathside, is a popular spot for crabbing. If you’re staying at Heathside for a while, set off early and spend the whole day on the Norfolk Broads (about an hour and 15 minutes' drive north, or drive south for around an hour and a half to the villages of Long Melford and Lavenham with their medieval timber-framed houses.
