Wild Retreat: Pretty decor with comfy beds for all

General

  • Exclusive-use glamping retreat on the edge of a rural Norfolk village
  • Half an hour from the coast or 25 minutes' drive to central Norwich
  • Access to extra services like beauty treatments and chef-cooked meals

It's the little touches that make an outdoor stay really special, so take a moment to have a closer look at Wild Retreat. The single fully-furnished bell tent at this exclusive-use site has high-quality décor that really stands out, with attractive wooden furniture, a kingsize bed and a tasteful colour scheme coming together to create a very pleasing backdrop indeed…

This private and secluded space, which sleeps up to four, is set in a field that you'll have all to yourselves. It's on the edge of Cawston, a peaceful village surrounded by Norfolk countryside. Highlights here include a friendly pub, an independent deli, a convenience store, a park and a church, while the north Norfolk coast and Norwich city centre can both be reached within half an hour by road.

Back at base, your tent comes with access to well-maintained private toilet and shower facilities, a kitchen and dining area and a relaxing firepit. Plenty of outdoor furniture is available, so it's easy to soak up the far-reaching rural views while relaxing outdoors.

In need of some me time? Guests at Wild Retreat also have access to a range of additional services, from luxury beauty treatments to tasty chef-cooked meals.

We loved our stay and will definitely be going back!! Such a beautiful and peaceful location, we chose to completely chill out and spend time as a family, we sat and admired the lovely views, went for walks around the pretty village and completely de-stressed.
Anna is not only a wonderful chef but also the loveliest person and nothing is too much trouble she genuinely wants you to enjoy your Wild Retreat experience.
The bell tent is wonderful - like stepping into a magical 'Harry Potter' sized tent which is beautifully furnished and super comfortable.
The kitchen is fab, the firepit area is great - perfect for cozy evenings toasting marshmallows...... And we all loved the shower, its powerful and feels like you are showering outside even though you are perfectly covered up.
We totally recommend a stay here and the pizzas, apple crumble, brownies and hot chocolates are delicious - looking forward to sampling some of the other tasty treats on our next visit.
Oh and the dog loved it too!

We just got back from a 3 night break and have had the best time! Anna has made this place so comfortable and welcoming, she has literally thought of everything. It's such a treat to come away and have everything you need already here. Not sure I'm ever going to want to pitch my own tent again! You really must visit wild retreat, it's a gem! Quick before everyone hears about it!

We loved having the whole space to ourselves, we felt the owner was on hand if we needed anything but never intrusive. The tent was furnished beautifully and we had a couple of very comfortable nights. It was great to have a covered kitchen area (we had mixed weather). The shower had plenty of hot water and was spotlessly clean. We loved sitting by the fire pit and spotted a barn owl flying past, a big plus for our nature loving boys. We ordered some of the gourmet marshmallows and I’m not sure we’ll be able to go back to normal ones now, they were delicious! A short walk from the site was a very friendly pub with a lovely beer garden and a deli / shop. We visited the beaches at Cromer, Sheringham and Brancaster all of which are a 30 or so minutes drive away.

This place is just fabulous! We loved everything about this stay, and the Bell tent itself really does have the WOW factor!! So well put together. We really were in heaven. The African decor is really on point and created a totally relaxed lose yourself in the wild vibe. The pictures really don't do this place justice.
Your own private kitchen, Fire Pit, shower and toilet.
Freshly cooked meals, log bags, marshmallows etc all availble on request.
The owner operates a salon just over the hedge where you can indulge in some amazing treatments. Which from experience I can say are a must!
Thank you to Anna for taking such good care of my family.
Your venue is just magical. You really have thought of everything, and we didn't want to leave.
    We will return again soon!

Local attractions

Cawston is on Marriott's Way (a few minutes' walk from site), a long-distance walking and cycling trail that passes through lots of other attractive villages and market towns like Aylsham (10 minutes' drive) and Reepham (10 minutes). After a stretch of the legs, treat yourself to a restorative coffee and cake in the grounds of a 17th-century stately home at the National Trust-run Blickling Estate (10 minutes), or tour the area vintage-style aboard one of the Bure Valley Railway's steam trains (10 minutes).

Once you've got a measure of the local countryside, pack up your towels and head off to the coast – Blakeney (30 minutes) beckons with its birdwatching opportunities and seal colonies, while Salthouse (30 minutes) has peaceful marshes and a pebbly beach to explore. For a spot with some sand, try Cromer (30 minutes) or Sheringham (30 minutes), where there's also an interesting local lifeboat museum.

Norwich city centre (25 minutes) is another excellent option and is a centre for shopping, dining and sightseeing. The city's fascinating Norman castle and well-preserved cathedral will likely be the highlights for many, but the town has lots of parks, gardens and quieter streets worth wandering down too.
