  • Family park near the north Norfolk coast, three miles from Sheringham
  • Walkers' paradise with easy access to wide uncrowded beaches
  • Playground, clubhouse, lounge bar, family bar and shop
Take your wheels along for scenic stays in a peaceful coastal setting in a National Landscape at Woodlands Caravan Park, a smart modern site with stacks to do for all ages. When you’re not out and about venturing around the Norfolk coast and inland – famed Sheringham beach is three miles away from here and both Norwich and the Broads within easy reach for day trips – the park is a comfy base to keep all fed, watered and entertained. There’s a big and enclosed play area with climbing frames, swings and slides; the site also has plenty of room to run around if energy levels are still high afterwards. Options await when it’s time to refuel: a lounge bar for adults with an additional family area, and a clubhouse serving pizzas to eat in or take away (the bar also has regular entertainment on a Saturday night in peak season). The site shop sells groceries and ice cream as well as newspapers and camping bits and pieces; gas and electric barbecues are allowed (no charcoal constructions, ta). Amenities include a well-maintained shower and toilet block with disabled facilities, baby changing and underfloor heating. Woodland is firmly dog friendly too: your dogs can accompany you for a small additional fee. It's also based on a bus route, making transport easy.

Liked Well planned site
Good location
Price per night
Lovely staff
The seating area outside the bar was lovely.
Offering of food was good.
Good to have a small on site shop.
Dogs welcome and a nice walk in the woods (if you don’t get lost)
Plenty of toilets / showers.
Not that we needed it - but the children’s park space looked good.

Disliked Can’t do anything about other campers - but we constantly found the sinks / plug full of food where people had not cleaned up after themselves.

The showers had nowhere to place clothing in the unit - you could only place clothes outside the actual shower unit. A stool would be handy inside the shower unit to keep clothing off the floor.

There was no way of cleaning your shower after use - and I only saw a cleaning crew once in the time I was there (I wasn’t onsite the whole time - but it didn’t look like it had been cleaned)
A floor squeegee or something similar would have been welcomed (again some people are less considerate than others when using shared space)

If you decide to walk to the nearest beach - there are limited pathways so you end up walking on the road (we could not find any other pathways - we may be wrong)

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Really nice reception staff, as a first time caravan user I have really appreciated the reception ladies explaining everything to the detail how to get around and how to easily set up. Also small shop at reception with well priced items with everything you need or might of forgotten.
Great area for camping with shower facilities, toilets, washing and laundry area I only wish people would actually leave these areas clean after using them.

Disliked Nothing what could be changed by the owners or the site it self and not always a bad thing however the signal was on SOS side therefore couldnt be in contact with anyone. There is wifi available but I didnt get signal on this either.

Selection of food at the restaurant was on basic side.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked What a lovely place. It was quiet, clean and everyone was very friendly. The shower and toilet blocks were great and very hygienic. Perfect location for Sherringham Park, the town and beach. There is a bus that stops right outside the campsite which was so convenient. We will be going again next year.

Disliked The only negative and it was possibly because we arrived later in the day is that the pitches are not very flat. It’s okay in a caravan but we were in a motorhome and even with the chucks we were on a slope.

Liked We liked the lay out of the camp and found it very quiet considering how busy the site was. Very friendly staff.

Disliked The showers and toilets could have been cleaner. And I would say the camp its self needs updating.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked price

Disliked no rules are enforced at this place, the kids are allowed to run riot, no one respects the quite time rules. Kids out of bikes cycling through your pitch at full speed, pulling wheelies and skidding. They also do this after dark. Your car and van are regularly hit by footballs. If you ask the kids nicely to please not use you pitch as a shortcut they go moan to their parents and then you get shouted at for daring ask them to be at least in part courteous. The owner acknowledges there are issues but other than having a quiet word just apologises but doesn't actually do anything. No one ever actually enforces the rules that are clearly laid out making for a mostly miserable experience. Shouting, screaming and swearing gangs of kids well after 11PM and then starts again shortly after 6AM. delightful!
No one answers the out of hours number.
When someone does come and check they agree that the noise level is unacceptable and after quiet hours but the best they can do is ASK the kids to be quiet and then leave you to it.
The friends we were with even cut their holiday short by a day as they just had enough of it.
Oh, and every time you try to make a cup of tea your power cuts out as they are only 10amp.
Pitch we had was so sloped even at the top of our ramp we weren't quite level.
Shower room and toilets were regularly unclean

Local attractions

This handsome part of Norfolk is part of the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, home to swathes of uncrowded beaches for family days, dog walks, watersports and nature spotting. The closest beaches are Sheringham, 35 minutes' walk away, and Cromer (15 minutes' drive), both also home to historic seaside towns drawing visitors to Norfolk seaside hols since Victorian times. Birdwatchers and nature spotters are well placed too: species of all sorts can be spotted around the area as well as at Sheringham and Cromer. The National Trust’s Blakeney National Nature Reserve, 20 minutes’ drive away, is a fine spot to start your ornithological exploits, at its four miles of shingle, sand dunes, mudflats and salt marshes; also try birdwatching around the Cley Marshes (start at the visitor centre in Cley next the Sea, 15 minutes’ drive away), and the Salthouse Marshes a couple of miles east of Cley. For adventures further afield, the shopping, sightseeing, visitor attractions and restaurants of Norwich are 50 minutes away, and the waterways and more wildlife of the Broads within 40.
