  • Tiny and warmly welcoming adults-only motorhome site in Sheringham
  • Half an hour's walk to Sheringham's beach, golf course and promenade
  • Meticulously maintained country cottage garden
An adults-only site with a gorgeous cottage garden in a gorgeous countryside location: Mill Cottage is in East Anglia’s spectacular coast-fringed county of Norfolk, in a super sweet spot near the sands and fun town centre of Sheringham. This spot is an easy half an hour’s walk to into Sheringham down a hill and through a pleasant wooded land; if you’re driving, you’ll reach the seaside in about five minutes. For when you want to get out to investigate the local area, Sheringham is served by a bus that drives out to Holt in one direction and to Norwich (via Cromer), in the other, as well as a vintage steam railway (also journeying to Holt) – spot on for when you want to leave the rig back at base. The site’s hugely hospitable owners Sharon and Charlie maintain this site rather meticulously (especially its splendidly peaceful and lush gardens), and work extra hard to ensure their guests have everything they need during their stay. Leisure-wise, pampering is a thing at this park too: Sharon is a certified beauty therapist and has a whole heap of beauty and relaxation treatments, from body, reflexology and Indian head massage to facials, nail care and more to give guests a hyper-chilled stay.

Liked: Very warm and friendly welcome when we arrive, was shown to the pitch personally and given all the information that we needed.

Disliked: Would have been nice to have toilet facilities but after talking to the owner can understand why they don't have them.

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: This small, clean, well organised site is for self sufficient Motorhomes only. No children or dogs allowed. There is no toilet/shower block yet everything a Motorhome requires is here, rubbish, grey water and toilet disposal. The owner allows use of the garden which is lovely. Parking is next to a field giving a very rural atmosphere.

Disliked: Nothing

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Super little site, clean & tidy with every facility you would wish for at a CL. No toilets or showers but not an issue for a modern motorhome. Level pitches & the use of an extremely pretty garden. If you are a walker plenty of opportunities straight off site with various options into Sheringham & the coast.

Disliked: The road off site is quite dangerous & busy with extreme caution required especially as a pedestrian, although the road noise is mitigated by gates & the garden it is still intrusive, barring that this would be a five * rating

Local attractions

Walk into the centre Sheringham in about 30 minutes (or drive in five) for a scenic seaside promenade lined by a row of colourful beach huts (fish and chips and ice cream, anyone?), and stick around to sit among its pubs, cafés and tearooms to scoff locally produced cakes and other tasty morsels. An excellent golf course is here too, or for culture trips, visit its museum and check out the events schedule of the town’s theatre for film screenings and stage shows, music and comedy performances and art exhibitions of all ilks to fill your off-site evenings with. If you’re into the idea of seeing the surrounding countryside from a steam locomotive, the famed North Norfolk Railway, known locally as the Poppy Line, can be hopped on less than a couple of miles from base (in Sheringham town centre) for verily viewsome vintage carriage rides out to Holt, five miles away. Also close to base is the National Trust’s 1,000-acre Sheringham Park – again within half an hour’s walk – where four waymarked routes with distances ranging from one to five miles take you through the park’s smashingly varied habitats, many points along which have spectacular sea views. Felbrigg Hall is also within easy reach by car. Several wild bird sanctuaries are a short drive away too, at the saltmarshes in Cley next the Sea, Blakeney and Salthouse; a little further afield – around 40 minutes’ drive away – the rare wildlife-filled waterways of the Norfolk Broads (the UK’s biggest protected wetland, fact fans) are a prime wildlife spotting and birdwatching spot, as it’s home to more than a quarter of the UK’s rarest species.
