What customers say
This is a basic, well-maintained campsite with a beautiful, peaceful location right next to Salhouse Broad, ideal for watersports and nature lovers. Visitors praise the friendly and helpful rangers, the clean portaloos, and the car-free pitches, which are considered safe for children. While some found the site too rustic due to the lack of showers and washing-up facilities, the natural setting and proximity to attractions are highly valued. Occasional noise from boats or other campers was noted by a few.

Liked Peaceful and scenic campsite, coffee shack around the corner, cars could park closer to campsite than we initially thought.
Disliked Portaloos are pretty smelly.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (large)
Liked Location was great especially as we took a kayak so being right by the water was wonderful. We felt our children could play safely in the areas around the campsite and they were mostly still within earshot too. Small campsite and quiet despite pitches being closer together than we've had with other sites. We stayed for several nights so showers would have completed the stay but we knew they weren't provided and prepared for it accordingly.
Disliked Not being able to take your car to the pitch to offload/load is a real downside, especially as no wheelbarrows are provided. Toilets needed soap refilling more often and got quite smelly at times so more regular cleaning would be appreciated.
We had some issues with people pitching between posts instead of in front of them. This meant two different sets of guests were using some of our space (one immediately next to us!?) and we felt they were in our personal space. A notice on each post explaining how to pitch correctly would be helpful and ensure everyone gets the space and privacy they're entitled to.

Clean, basic site, perfect for a short stay.
Non-electric grass tent pitch (large)
Liked The site was very clean. Cars aren't allowed by the tents which felt very safe for the kids. It's right next to the broad for water activities and the kids really enjoyed the play area next to the site.
Disliked No one was there when we arrived and another camper had to tell us where to go to find the ranger. No showers.

From the manager: Thanks for your review, we try to make our welcome emails as clear as possible for directions on what to do when arriving, so apologies if it wasn't clear enough. We are also working at installing showers, so watch this space!

Wonderful campsite close to water, simple but that’s its charm.
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Great back to basics camp, simple and in full nature. 1 min from Salhouse board. Fire pits available and portaloo for toilets.
Disliked No proper toilets or showers but that is the rustic appeal. So it’s no problem for us.

Liked Ranger very friendly, checked all was okay on first day. Clean portaloos/access to water.
Disliked Not much signage leading to campsite/some signs broken. Wasps in the ground (someone did come to smoke them out but this angered the wasps and several of my party got stung). Uneven ground, holes and whole field on a tilt.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback — we’re glad to hear you found our ranger friendly and appreciated the clean facilities and access to water.
We’re sorry to hear you had a few issues during your stay. Regarding the signage, we do try to provide clear directions in the confirmation email, but we’ll definitely take another look at the on-site signs to improve the arrival experience.
We only became aware of the wasps late on Friday and acted quickly to address the issue, not realising it might aggravate the nest further. We’re truly sorry that some of your party were stung — had we known at the time, we would’ve done our best to support you on site.
As for the ground, we’ve recently moved pitches in the camping area and are still fine-tuning the layout. We do aim to make each pitch as level and comfortable as possible and appreciate your feedback — it helps us improve for future guests.
Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience.

Liked It's a nice and quiet campsite. Very basic. Portable toilets vere clean enough. Fire pits available for use. Very close to the Broad and you can launch for free if you are staying at the campsite.
Disliked Lack of any kind of sink to clean anything or even brush teeth.
