  • Quiet pop-up site at a family farm 10 minutes' drive from Aylsham
  • A 15-minute drive to the north Norfolk coast; half an hour to Norwich
  • Laidback dog-friendly site; walk to pub or Blickling Estate
If you’re looking to get to know north Norfolk this summer, Archer’s Field is a great place to aim for. This quiet pop-up site is in a fabulous location to explore all the attractions of this gorgeous part of the world – it’s surrounded by countryside, about 15 minutes’ drive from the coast and within easy reach of both Norwich and the Broads National Park. This site is part of a farm that’s been in the same family for over 100 years – it was once a dairy farm, but while you’ll still see a few cows around the business has diversified into seasonal crops like asparagus, peonies and Christmas trees. With mature trees lining the camping meadow and wildlife also playing a part (deer, muntjac, tawny owls and egrets are frequent visitors) it all adds up to a pretty lovely backdrop for a rural break. There’s a laidback atmosphere on site too, with kids, dogs and barbecues all welcome and simple facilities stretching to just toilets, showers and a washing-up area. There are picnic tables too, but the team on site also recommend a walk to the pub in Aldborough for a meal and a drink. The local town of Aylsham (10 minutes’ drive) has a good bakery and café, a butchers and various other indie shops. The team back at the farm have plenty of other shopping and eating recommendations as well. And they’ll also have plenty of suggestions for those of you that like to walk – perhaps starting with the walk from the farm to Blickling Estate along parts of Weavers Way before taking on sections of the coast path around Cromer or Cley next the Sea.

Electric optional grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Loved it was a small, back to basic, quiet laidback site within walking distance of the local pub. Lots of wildlife around often hearing the deer barking and owls hooting.

Disliked Two toilets, one out of order, road was quite noisy even though it was a quiet lane.
Could do with a few more picnic benches.
No mobile signal (which was nice in some ways)

Electric optional grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked A beautiful field and lovely owner who came to meet us as we arrived. Straight away he gave us advice on which pitch would be best as we had our dog with us and local dog friendly walks and beaches.
The owner checked on the site routinely and had very genuine conversations with everyone as he went around.
The facilities, though minimal (down to one toilet as one was broken) were very clean, well stocked and there was never a queue of more than yourself.
The site felt very safe, and there were lovely touches such as the little pink shed selling freshly cut lavender, homegrown honey, fresh eggs and bouquets of dahlias (we have come away with all of the above!).

We would thoroughly recommend!

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Location, facilities and convenience of local amenities are all on offer at this peaceful stay. I found the location was easy to link to activities in this Idilic part of Norfolk, using the A140. The facilities on site are of a very high standard - namely clean and high quality toilets and showers, excellent for the setting. Local amenities includes a good traditional pub (spread Eagle), the site owner offers a farm shop providing great quality eggs and much more. Alysham is a stones throw away with all you could want for that longer stay incl. supermarkets, BP fuel station much more. A great place with friendly owners providing all you need at good value.

Disliked Nothing comes to mind.
